It may have been gay but I'm not 100%. Mexican men really do get into these weird obsessive friendships that looks gay as fuck to the untrained eye and probably are but don't involve actually sucking each other off. Take a weird psycho autist like Benoit who shoot never had a close interpersonal relationship before or probably after Eddie, throw in a mexican drama queen with a drug problem and you get two best friends that are way too into each other.

Like I get crying because your friend died, especially like Eddie did. It would fuck me up. But I'm not sniffing my homies pillows. I've got friends I have had for more than half my life that are like brothers to me - still not sniffing their pillows. I personally doubt Eddie was a homo/bi but I could see it in Benoit's case. Having said that, it's entirely possible he was straight and all his weird behavior following Eddie's death could be due to his pulverized brain. The guy was basically in the end stages of CTE and Eddie's death was another thing that helped push him over the edge

Benoit was slowly losing it, not only because of CTE and his friends were dying, but also because I'm pretty sure he knew he was either going to die soon or have serious-enough health issues where he could no longer wrestle. And that shit caused him to begin to lose his mind
It wasn't just Eddie who died around that time. Johnny Grunge (half of the Public Enemy tag team) was a good friend of Benoit and died months after Eddie died. Benoit saw his friends in the business dropping around him and likely started reflecting on his mortality
It's a fucking shame he decided to kill his family instead of either just killing himself, or better yet getting the help he clearly needed so that no one had to be killed
