As a longtime NJPW fan... I'll never forgive Gedo for squandering the better part of a decade. This endless parade of hasbeens and veteran midcarders getting elevated to the title scene at the expense of ANY new star is unforgivable. What's even worse is that he went from being the best booker in the world to one so criminally negligent and lazy that he'd put Verne Gagne to shame. He took a risk and strapped a rocket to a young, unproven talent fresh from excursion... had him defeat the Ace in a match that shocked the fans, and then pushed that rookie to the moon ushering in a new golden age. He proved he has the balls to take a risk and the vision to see it through... but now he cannot bring himself to push anyone new. He let Okada go without putting anyone over, he let Naito leave without any fanfare, he half-heartedly rearranged the Reiwa Muskateers a few times before just leaving them to rot. Now he gets handed another crop of fresh talent in Uemura, Fujita, and Oiwa and... does nothing.

With Tiny Con I had no expectations. Tuned into AEW at the start, lost interest when his frenetic booking never landed on anything worthwhile. Called it quits when I realized I was watching more out of habit than interest.

At one time... many moons ago, the multi-man matches served a purpose and occasionally threatened to be exciting.

When you had strongly defined factions that went to war with each other these matches were battles that would build drama for the eventual singles and tag matches. Now the factions are all broken, dormant, and ill-defined.

The multi-man matches would occasionally force rivals into working together to oppose a larger threat. The UWF, UWFi, WAR, Ishin-gun, and nWo Japan matches for instance would see rivals like Choshu and Fujinami forced to tag. NWJP doesn't really like working with other Japanese companies, so these don't get booked anymore. The last time it happened was KONGO but it didn't create any tension because LiJ just defeated them.

Gedo just uses them to get everyone on the card. They're dimeless, heatless and a barrier to new fans that don't know they're better off just skipping ahead.
