I think late 30s is when the window starts to close in terms of trying to have children without significant risk of complications or health issues for the baby
Her friends/family probably got on her case about this recently too (or even Jimmy himself). It would certainly explain why she chose to do it in the middle of the biggest push she ever had instead of waiting any longer
