Taker's based, but I always judge how good someone was by counting how many promotions they got over in. Taker would not have got over in 96-98 WCW with or without Deadman gimmick. It only works in WWE.
Austin would've got over in WCW if he was exactly like 97-98 Stone Cold without that part of the name.

Taker in WCW would've absolutely flopped in 96-97. No Undertaker gimmick, nWo politics, Sting being the main babyface and a bloated roster with no direction.
It only would've worked if he managed to become the leader of some stable and try to reproduce a hybrid between his Deadman and his biker persona, but there wouldn't be a Vince to polish his character and he doesn't own the rights of the Undertaker name, so he would've been "The XXXXX Mean Mark".
How many people would he have been able to make tune in around those years in detriment of Austin?
Would WCW would've been able to mention that Undertaker and Hogan had a feud in some other company in the past?
