Watch out macho man, hogans gonna turn heel on you and then bury sting with a slow count at starcade next year after Vince screws Bret in montreal!”
Unironically what the FUCK was Bobby “No Brains” Keenan’s problem

I hate how people always defend Heenan with the "but his character always hated Hogan and thought the worst of him" excuse
Motherfucker....you are literally seconds away from the biggest, most shocking heel turn in the history of professional wrestling
If there was ever a time for you to shut the fuck up with that anti-Hogan shit for just one minute, it was that moment. Just let Schavone and Dusty sell the lead-up, then when Hogan drops the leg you can do your "all these years, I told you so" rant
Heenan was still a great commentator overall, but he fucked up that night

Tbh if Heennan hadn't foreshadowed it, it would have felt so out of the blue it would have been stupid and a waste. When Heennan said it, I remember thinking, "lol there's no fucking way! This is the Hulkster we're talking about." As a Hulkamaniac, I didn't WANT to believe it. The foreshadowing immediately sent me into a state of denial. It forced me to resolidify my belief in Hogan's goodness. So when he turned on Macho it had double the impact than if there was no foreshadowing at all.

I watched it live and had the opposite reaction as a little Jimmy. The second Heenan said it I did the math in my head and went “ooooh Hogans the third Man”. I was 7.

Heenan hated WCW from Day 1 lol. He’s the biggest Vince mark of all time and said he only went to WCW because the pay was great and he could be near his daughter for school in Georgia.

His shoot interviews on WCW are pretty funny. Calls Bischoff a used car salesman.

The worst misuse of Heenan in WCW was not putting him in the NWO with Hogan. With all of their history it would have made sense. Instead we got Virgil.

nobody thought hogan was the third man in the days leading up to this. and nobody thought hogan was the third man even while walking to the ring and nobody took heenan seriously even suggesting it because hogan was such an upstanding person always preaching about doing the right thing. people were always cheering for him so him turning heel was the furthest thing from everybodys mind

Bobby Heenan is the single most OVERRATED commentator of all-time. He was a great manager, perfect bumbling asshole you wanted to see get his comeuppance. But for the life of me, I cannot understand why people loved him as a commentator with Gorilla Monsoon. They were like a pair of bickering women and were absolutely cringeworthy whenever they were paired together for either PPVs or doing their TV show hosting thing (easily the most skippable portion of Wrestling Challenge vids).

Monsoon and Jesse Ventura were a MUCH better pairing and absolute kino (and Vince knew this, hence why they did every PPV Jesse was around for).

WWF/E downturned when Heenan went into full-time commentary. He ruins the 1992 Royal Rumble with his constant "no no no no". We get it, he's basically Flair's manager but he would have been WAY better actually just being that instead of on commentary.

Fuck all of you who rave about his commentary. He's an embarrassment and him ruining Hogan's heel turn is absolutely no surprise and forever a stain. If you don't realise his commentary on EVERYTHING else is also a stain, you're just too dumb to rise above the level of low hanging fruit humor.

He's one of the original clownshow Vince goofs.

Because it wasn't nearly as big of a fuck-up, that's why
One is spoiling the most unexpected heel turn ever
The other is just Kane taking a little too long to hit the piledriver and awkwardly turning and shuffling around for a few seconds. Plus it's understandable since it was his very first time doing the move on an actual WWE show

You could tell he initially thought the hard cam was behind him because after picking Carder up he does a complete 180 turn. Then Carder probably told him the cam was on the next side that they were originally on, so Kane turns right back to face the original direction he was in before finally dropping Carder

I just watched the video, and I'm wondering if Taker is the one who fucked it up by initially directing Kane into the wrong direction
Kane clearly had him pointed in the right direction at first for the first three seconds and looked ready to plant him, then suddenly he decides to shuffle and turn around as if someone told him at the last second that he was facing the wrong direction....only it was actually the right direction
Then maybe Taker realized last-second that the camera was on the other side and told Kane, which explains Kane doing another full turn before piledriving him
What makes me think this is how Taker looks to the wrong side after Kane's pyro goes off, just before the tombstone. Notice how Taker turns his back to the camera

I agree I have the Tism. He had some ok quips but most of his schtick was being chastised by Monsoon. He actually brought BOTH of them down to a level of stupidity that carried WWF into an era of stupidity. Likely because it made Vince chuckle because he likes poo poo wee wee humor.

Lawler was similarly cringe but was in a much better combination with JR and in an era where they were over the top with the risque so it worked better. Although on re-watch Lawler is an absolute embarrassment to listen to.

But great to see how many are exposing themselves to be simple minded easy marks.

jesse is way more overrated than heenan. i was watching some old stuff from the wwf recently and thought he was really terrible. if he was any good why did he flop so bad in wcw just like heenan? obviously go-rilla really was that good that he could carry these talentless shitters on commentary and make them seem like stars when the truth is they fucking sucked and he was the unsung star
