ITT: Surprising singles matches between wrestlers known from different eras/companies
For the sake of the thread, this will be mainly televised/video-recorded matches
Wrestlers that were lesser-known at the time or under a different gimmick are acceptable
House show matches that aren't on video are also acceptable if they're well-sourced:

Still doesn't change the fact that he was from a completely different era, he had his start in the WWF when Hulkamania was at it's peak. To put this into perspective, John Cena was barely 10 years old when Shawn Michaels joined the WWF in '87, by that time, he had already been wrestling since he was 19 in 1985.

Kind of impossible because there was literally never a time where they were in the same company. By the time Goldberg came into WWE Viscera was long gone. By the time Viscera came back (in fall 2004), Goldberg was gone. By the time Goldberg came back to WWE, Viscera was dead. The only stuff Goldberg did inbetween his WCW and WWE stints was a short AJPW run and Viscera wasn't working in Japan then.

They honestly should have. Put Lawler over, make him drop the belt back to Miz at Mania in a three way against Miz and Cena thanks to Cole interfering and then just have Lawler beat up Cole on Raw the next night to end the feud and end the heel Cole bullshit.

Would it make for good matches? Not really but I don't think given how shit everything was at the time anyone would have had a poblem with Lawler holding the belt for a few weeks as a thank you. He was over as hell during that Miz feud and even the smarks at the time would have been fine with it.

You know who else was around during the ruthless aggression era AND the golden, new generation, and attitude eras? Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kane (started his run during the new gen era), Triple H, Stone Cold, Chris Jericho (if you count his WCW run). was it on a house show? or a dark match before a tv taping? if the latter, they should have it. if the former, it's very doubtful it exists anywhere. especially if fancam hasn't turned up by now, it probably never will.
i did see a picture of it, and it looked like it was taken by a WWF photographer so i'm guessing they did tape it and lost it.
it's strange because it would've been notable even then just because it's an Owen Hart match and Kurt was a prospect and Olympian they knew he was going to be big.
it's not like it's two nobodies who much later on became known and famous. the tape should've turned up by now. but WWE Vault claimed this year they can't find it.

If the match was that close to his death then he likely had the Blue Blazer gimmick/outfit at the time
That would explain why they'd lie about not having it. Seeing Owen with that gimmick is too much of a reminder of his death
It's easier to pretend they can't find it than to say "we have it, but that footage might be too triggering to his wife and others since he's wearing the same attire that he died in not long after this match happened"

>Cody Rhodes vs. Hardcore Holly (Raw 2007)
Interesting piece of trivia involving these two:
Cody Rhodes may be the only wrestler in WWE history - maybe in the history of pro wrestling - to technically 'lose' and 'win' a championship at the exact same time
How?
In 2008, Cody held the World tag team belts with Holly, and they had a PPV match (Night of Champions) to defend the belts in a match against Ted DiBiase Jr., and a mystery partner
Cody and Holly came out for the match, then DiBiase came out but without a partner. Said his partner was running late, but that the match could start anyway as 2-on-1 and his partner would join midway
During the match, DiBiase's partner was revealed to be.....Cody Rhodes, who assaulted Holly. DiBiase then got the pin on Holly
So the 'team' of Cody and Holly lost the tag titles to the 'team' of Cody and Ted Jr.

He'd been in WWE developmental since 2000 and had been doing regular dark matches. The original plan was that the Katie Vick storyline was going to be used to bring him up and have him feud with Triple H and/or Kane because of what happened to his sister. But the problem is, it's fucking Sick Boy and he sucked. Vince liked his look but he had a bunch of shitty dark matches so they abandoned any plans to bring him up and released him. Then they did the funeral parlor segment and that killed the entire angle completely.

It was part of the build up to HBK vs. Angle at WM21. Angle challenged Jannetty for Smackdown that week as a warm up so on Raw, HBK decides to reunite the Rockers so Marty doesn't have any ring rust going into the match. IRL, Michaels was trying to do Marty a solid and it almost worked. This and the Angle match got Marty a contract but he got arrested right afterwards and immediately let go.
