I liked Swagger in his AEW run, but why didn't he just take the 18 months. He'd still have a job as a wrestler and who knows what might have happened in that time. At the very worst he gets paid to do nothing.

From the very beginning I just wanted a super indie. I didn't want all these Exfed guys in there. Didn't want some kind of bullshit mafia running the back like Kliq/NWO/whatever. That kind of shit is bad. Call it All Friends Wrestling if you want but the show was at it's creative peak when it was storylines involving AEW/NJPW/Indie guys, riffing off BTE, interconnected stories, etc. When it turned in to Smackdown Lite in 2022-2023 I lost all interest.

I really just need to understand the mentality of "We're seeing organic growth on every level based on what we're doing, let's change everything to be based around WWE guys that weren't drawing in WWE and model our show on 2021 Smackdown". It's not like SDL was doing anything interesting at the time and their business and creative was meh as fuck. Why emulate that?

If you look at the objectively and not just from an I hate or I love AEW perspective. This contradicts a lot. He says Tony bursted into a talent only meeting after Dax and Cash didn’t show up for work due to not liking a storyline and Tony screamed “I’ll put you in a six man six minutes before the show and you’re gonna do it”. That’s completely against the current narrative that Tony let guys like black and rusev and now the hurt business walk all over him and decide creative. Jake while trying to make Tony look bad is actually one of the only accounts in existence of Tony having a backbone.
