How does he sleep at night knowing he ruined the greatest heel turn of all time, and nearly ruined John Cena's retirement run altogether?

Don’t talk about a future Oscar winner like that. He is more important than a shitty retirement run that probably won’t even be his real retirement.

Rock not showing up shouldn't be grounds for ruining anything. If it does, it means Cena is fucking shit and can't do stuff on his own.

The person who ruined Cena's heel turn was Cena himself with his shit delivery, not believable antics, cartoonist segments, and even worse matches. Gaytch ended up burying with no story but the biggest weight that caused the downfall was Cena and only Cena.

He was the catalyst for the turn and the fact he wasn't around made it less effective, hell he could've literally phoned it in with him bossing Cena around and threatening his Hollywood jobs before Cena just said fuck it and turned back babyface

Rock needed to be there to carry Cena's heel turn with his presence, because John Cena isn't that good.

It's actually because he was clearly set up as the mastermind behind the turn, and was a very important part of the story until he decided he didn't want to be part of it anymore. To say it's anyone's fault other than Dwayne's is pure cope.

If he couldn't commit to seeing the story through, he never should've been part of it to begin with. And from what we know, he wasn't going to be until TKO leadership was wanted to boost ticket sales for that one PLE. People try to use this story to say Triple H is bad at running creative when this is the story he had the least control over.

I'd say all are at fault but Rock definitely gets the brunt of it.

>Tickets low for EC, TKO ask Rock to show up to boost tickets
>He agrees, pitches the "I want your soul" angle
>Rock wants Cody to turn heel, pretty much everyone says its a bad idea
>Rock backs down and pitches Kevin Owens instead, even worse idea as KO just had a months long feud with Cody which he lost (plus he got injured a week or so before EC anyway but they didn't know that yet)
>Cena is suggested, all are happy
>Cena turns, one of the best segments ever
>Rock leaves, saying its their story now
>Cena is missing for weeks, when he does show up its just YOU PEOPLE
>Rock isn't even brought up until about a week before WM and its a throwaway line

At best, HHH sabotaged the story to politick against Rock and at worst, he, Cena, the writer's room and others couldn't come up with anything good.

Cody turning heel would genuinely have been one of the worst decisions in the history of wrestling. Rock should be embarrassed for even thinking that, let alone saying it out loud. Cena turning heel was absolutely incredible in the moment, but what everyone was excited about was to see this storyline develop. But it turns out they didn't really have a story. It was really unacceptable, and I think they did the best they could under the circumstances until they decided to just make Cena a good guy again, which doesn't make much sense in the story, but was clearly the correct choice at this point.

I hope the lesson that's been learned is that TKO shouldn't be interfering in storylines.

HHH and Bruce raise their hand as the one responsible for Cena heel run and CAWDY possible heel turn. Dwayne plan was Cody have a program with him and KO as his henchman and then someone else when KO got hurt.

If triple h booked anything compelling on the road to EC (which he had an entire year after Wrestlemania 41 to do so)- TKO doesn’t need to push the rock panic button, I know you’ve decided to fall on this sword of defending Levesque to the end but it’s a bad hill to die on- Rock’s about to win an Oscar and send him packing, WWE is flatlining and in a bad spot creatively and we are far removed from Cena’s heel turn

Levesque ain’t the guy and you hitched your horse to the wrong wagon, you got Cody Rhodes, you got no Vince- this is the result, stop looking to blame others and accept that what you thought was hot was actually not that impressive in the grand scheme of things

Problem with that is the order to beat Cody's ass at EC came from Rock after Cody told Rock "Go Fuck Yourself!".

Plus there is the actual reason he gave, which would've worked back in 2006 when they really started booing him, not on his retirement tour where they want to see him win the big one one more time.
Anonymous No.18730209
What exactly is Levesque projecting for WM 42?

Reigns vs Rollins (zero buys)
Brock vs Gunther (not a real dream match)
Cody vs Punk? (we need to stick some stars together and we haven't done this combination in this era)
Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn Part 17??
The likes of Drew Mcintyre, LA Knight, Jey Uso, Bron Breakker, Jacob Fatu, Damien Priest, AJ Styles are just going to be in midcard matches that won't move the needle one way or another
Women matches are PR filler for the brand
Cena's supposedly retired by this point

Let's blame Dwayne again for WM 42.

his PR team pushing it out there + willing marks that get excited by a pigeonholed actor or outsider having a breakout "legit" role. It often happens with comedians (Jim Carry, Sandler, Robin Williams)

This. 100 times this. So WWE runs with the joke of pushing Cena as “the greatest of all time” all of a sudden these last couple years but he can’t carry HIMSELF through a program and figure out a way to make it work? It’s Rock’s fault that Cena can’t hold his own weight and HHH was clueless as a booker?
Anonymous No.18730377
>>18729777
Anon. It IS their story. Rock was asked to come back to boost EC numbers and nothing more. Any angle putting the brunt of the blame on The Rock HAS to acknowledge that it’s CENA’s run where HE goes out and performs and HHH is the one who books it week to week. It has to acknowledge that Cena and HHH needed their hands held and to be walked through/carried by a post retirement run Rock because they don’t know how to get their program over the way they want it.
