>WWE is facing legal heat after a Pennsylvania man filed a lawsuit claiming he suffered serious injuries from a slip-and-fall during a Monday Night RAW event in Columbus, Ohio earlier this year.
>According to a newly filed 19-page complaint, William Ricks says he slipped on “an unmarked puddle of a liquid or liquid-like substance that was not open and obvious” while walking near sections 207/208 during the April 22, 2024 show. The incident reportedly left him with “permanent pain and suffering,” although the exact injuries haven’t been detailed in the court filing.
>Ricks is suing WWE, the Columbus Sports Arena and Entertainment, Ohio State University (which owns the arena), and UMR, Inc.—a health insurance provider allegedly involved in covering some of his medical costs.
>The lawsuit accuses the first three parties of negligence, failure to warn, and vicarious liability, arguing they “owed the ticket-purchasing audience, of which Plaintiff was a member, a duty to maintain the Premises in a way that was free of any hazardous conditions.”
>UMR was included in the filing because Ricks “may have had medical assistance with or received payments from Defendant UMR for care and treatment rendered due to injuries sustained in the aforementioned accident.”
