Time is a masterpiece. I want to make a rock opera that connects El Dorado into Time just to make it feature length.
I assume you are talking about Mr. Blue Sky and while its a great song I dont think its their best.
ELO has so many good songs.
What I like about them is that they slowly change while still sounding the same at least until the 80s. It was rock orchestra with a lot of hands involved that slowly wittled away.
Lynnes a genius i just hate how he screwed over bev bevan roy and various other members. Its scummy that certain streaming services either only have or go out of their way to play you the Lynne ELO remasters.
Honestly so many of their albums are amazing.
Love Discovery as well.
Turn to Stone might be my favorite ELO song.
I have had some amazing hallucinogenic experiences listening to all of their albums.
They became my second favorite band as I became an adult because when I went on a ELO plunge it brought back so many nostalgic memories of songs I heard as a child in the 90s I havent heard in forever or songs in movies or advertisements and they were all ELO.
The shittiest part of listening to Time is knowing I was born in 1989. I will not see 2095. And if by some miracle or living nightmare I am I assume the memory of Time and 2095 will be gone.
The same way I couldnt wait to watch sea lab 2021 in the year 2021. Then december 31st 11:40 PM it hit me that I did not so I quickly watched the predator episode.

Love you brother I wish I could paint you how vividly I remember listening to my burned CDs of el dorado and some Sparks mix I had made. Had maybe 3 CDs in my truck driving an hour to and and hour back from my art school, listening to that. What I like about el dorado is the back story behind it.
ELO at this point had made 3 albums. They didnt hit their major success just yet but el dorado is their fourth album.
It was created solely because Jeff Lynne was pissed at his fathers criticisms of his bands music. Thats why everytime I listen to El Dorado from start to finish when the music ends and peters our in the el dorado finale right before the spoken words at the end i just hear in my head FUCK YOU DAD.
not that I hate my dad but Music has many musicians with dad or mom issues.
El Dorado the album is one of the finest crafted fuck you dad I have ever heard.

Look all of this Jeff Lynne and ELO talk is fine but does Rampage exist?

Did El Dorado precede Time? I always had that in reverse, surely simply because of the order I discovered them in. I can't read all that, and frankly even glancing at it, it is shocking to think of Jeff Lynn as anything but calm and collected. Time came out in the 80s when Lynne was more heavy in synth and production by time almost all the "orchestra" aspects were basically gone or very limited.
Out of the blue is basically a greatest Hits album without even being the greatest hits album. It's only a few songs on out of the blue that aren't that great. They've made a lot of music and a lot of it is really good. I suggest checking out more of their stuff if you haven't. Maybe one day actually do the plunge that I did where I just listened to ELO albums from start to finish from the very beginning to the very end. I didn't make it to the end but I made it basically close to zoom and even then stuff on zoom and the album he released like fucking. I don't know 12-15 years ago where the song a bad boy or when I was a boy came out. It was good shit
