The reason for Tony's weird freak out on Wednesday was Shahid is trying to convince him to step down. His father controls 50% of AEW, and despite initially seeing it as a money pit for his son is beginning to get angry at the loss of face the Khans are suffering from its decline and now wants to turn the company around. Plan A is to send Tony to the UK to work with Fulham (he would be in a figurehead role) and bring in new people to make AEW successful (there has been talk of poaching Nick Khan and HBK from the fed, as well as seeing if Cornette and Bischoff are interested. Plan B is selling the video library to TKO in exchange for Tony having a figurehead boardroom role. At the moment, Shahid is trying to make it seem like it will be Tony's decision to step down, but he will force his son out if necessary.

Not buying it but I wish it was true.
