The Mexicans found the character very funny and they just followed the meme. They found it very funny that he was presented as a contemporary legend to El Santo and Mil Mascaras with all those edits. The reality is that it's very veeeeery easy to become friends (or 'amigo') with a mexican. Mexicans find it very funny to see foreigners trying to do 'mexican things', and Kaiser has done a good job being friendly to people in Mexico, learning some spanish (or, better said, some 'mexican') and using some elements of mexican pop culture.
