As big of a resurgence WWE has had, wrestling has always been kinda niche. When you factor in Japanese wrestling, Mexican wrestling, indies, it gets even more niche.

I told someone my favorite wrestler was Wardlow (this was years ago. He would be on Dark). I eventually had to explain he was a green Batista so they could have a reference point

Pick a genre, a medium, a hobby, anything, and the majority of people and fans will only really be aware or familiar with the biggest or most popular example of it

It's a difficult conundrum. WWE is like the NFL of football, which means it sucks and the refs constantly ruin matches and get people killed. But the issue isn't with the indie promotions, you need only ask yourself how a woman would answer if you propositioned her with a fun time. What would she want to do? Well. If she wants to go to a wrestling show then, even as a worthless ignorant whore, she would immediately notice if Roman Reigns wasn't there. At that point you have two choices. You either kill the woman or you let her go home and tell all her friends about the PTSD you gave her at a aew event.
