>(...) Returning to the ring for the first time in ten years since leaving in 2015, Shiozaki explained backstage, “I didn't come back to All Japan Pro Wrestling. I'm going to make HAVOC thunder through the pro wrestling world.” His return was made possible by HAVOC. A storm has arrived on the mainstream mat.

I'm trying so hard to find something to appreciate about them this year. The N-1 Victory was fun and it was a breath of fresh air to see Kitamiya win. It was actual, honest-to-god, good booking as it built on his heel turn from earlier in the year! NOAH built up a heel and had him poised to march into the next ppv and take the GHC from an aging champion.

...then he loses to KENTA in lackluster fashion. Worse still the ADHD booking is already looking at the next challenger instead of keeping Masa relevant because God forbid you have a viable heel on the roster.

>>19032372
Fans typically don't like sub-10 minute double count outs. Not since the 70's at least.

Fujita is difficult to utilize well because he tends to look best when he's dominant, but fans have been burned by his title reigns so they get apprehensive when it looks like he might steamroll an opponent. He's similar to 2010's Goldberg in the sense that he can't be booked to fully utilize his limited skill set without pissing off the fans.

Suzuki is excellent for his age and character, like >>19032769 mentioned he's being booked very well in DDT and still has the fans' support. It's just that he's well past the "special attraction, no booking required" appearance. He needs a story, an angle, something to get the fans on board. Plus, NOAH fans have a long history with Suzuki... some good, some bad.

thanks for agreeing. i didn't know if noah built up some kind of story between fujita and suzuki before their match since im not a regular noah's watcher. so the comment i read the most were about "idgaf about geezers"

not always ddt storyline are bright (kanon getting kicked out of damnation), but they proved recently that they can build up expectations and interesting situations
so suzuki vs ueno after six months having a rematch with double title on the line comes back full circle, and it makes sense (even if here as well i read some people annoyed but ddt cares way too much about ueno's boner for suzuki)

Anonymous No.19035502 [Report]

I don't believe there was any buildup whatsoever for the match. Suzuki just randomly appeared after a Fujita tag match, and issued a challenge. It was particularly strange because Suzuki hasn't been in NOAH in ages and Fujita hasn't been doing much more than random tags all year. Usually an outsider will invade and challenge the champion or a stable will invade to challenge the top stable... Suzuki and Fujita have no history and no NOAH titles were on the line, so... there was nothing at stake.

I don't blame the NOAH fans for not being interested. I'm a NOAH fan and a Suzuki mark (Fujita's not bad either), and I was kind of scratching my head. That being said; I have a hard time believing any Japanese fans were saying it was because they're geezers. The japs love their geezers, hell... Masanobu Fuchi still pops the crowds. Ditto Fujiwara.

I'd be down to see a rematch between the two, this time with something at stake. Don't care where it is either. Fujita in DDT would be cool. Hell, have them join forces and form an indy stable. Bring in some younger guys, maybe a deathmatch guy and a tag team. Writes itself really.

Mr. Kotouge has said that athletes and organizations should not be blamed, but this post seems to be leading the way in blaming an individual.
>I don't know the details, but since a contracted wrestler was holding the belt, wouldn't NOAH-san have some sort of management responsibility? Or wouldn't they? Apparently, the person had expressed their intention to return it. At that time, was there any hearing with the person involved, or any communication between the companies? I ask the vice president.

Deathmatch feds are a niche within a niche, and haven't really been a draw since the 90's. Plus, both feds have relatively small rosters of wrestlers... so it's endless rematches to some degree.

Years ago BJW soared with the advent of their Strong Division, which ironically shyed away from deathmatch wrestling to present more beefy loss fights and whatnot. Okabayashi, Sekimoto, Ishikawa and others ruled but... Okabayashi seemingly retired, and Sekimoto and Ishikawa spend more time elsewhere. I can only watch Hashimoto's son so much before boredom sets in. Deathmatch guys are even more stale.

Freedoms was on fire for years, Jun Kasai, Masada, and others pushed the envelope but again... small rosters and lack of exposure. It's nice to see them make efforts to reach wider audiences via YouTube but gone are the heydays.

>[AJPW] Kento Miyahara explains the intent behind his “spur-of-the-moment” remark: “It was something I planned.”

>All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Kento Miyahara (36) successfully made his first title defense on October 22 at Korakuen Hall, defeating challenger Go Shiozaki (43). Before the match, Miyahara was furious at Shiozaki, who had been moving back and forth between AJPW and NOAH—but after defending his title, he suddenly proclaimed, “What’s wrong with coming and going?!” seemingly contradicting himself. What was behind this abrupt reversal?

>That night, Miyahara retained his title against Shiozaki with a Shutdown Suplex Hold. At the pre-match press conference, he had harshly criticized Shiozaki—who had left NOAH at the end of September and made a “return appearance” in AJPW at the October 11 Gyoda event—saying, “A guy who comes and goes, vacates belts, and lets his unit run wild… I don’t even want to let you near the Triple Crown belt!”

>However, once the match was over, Miyahara boldly flipped his stance, declaring, “What’s wrong with coming and going, vacating belts, or letting your unit run wild?!” and praised Shiozaki. When asked afterward about the sudden shift, Miyahara grinned and explained, “It was something I intended from the start. I wanted fans to rediscover what makes Japanese pro wrestling so special.” His point: *Japanese wrestling is interesting precisely because wrestlers can transfer or return.*
Anonymous No.19117511 [Report] >>19117822
>>19117504
>“In Japan, fans have only seen Go Shiozaki in other promotions up to now, right? But just by him showing up in All Japan, people start complaining. That’s what makes the culture of Japanese pro wrestling so fascinating. Just being in a different promotion creates a storyline—and I wanted to deliberately highlight that,” he said, revealing his true reasoning.

>He also wanted to push back against the current trend that glorifies overseas promotions. “When Japanese wrestlers go abroad, there’s this perception that ‘foreign promotions are the best.’ But Japanese pro wrestling is amazing. There are shows every day, across so many promotions, and even just a return to a former company can generate this much excitement. I think we should be proud of that system,” he said confidently.

>Miyahara himself, now the company ace, originally transferred from Kensuke Office in 2014. For his second title defense (November 3 in Sapporo), he will face AJPW’s *true* homegrown talent, Hokuto Omori. Miyahara added, “I’m telling him—show me the pride of someone who lived and trained in the dojo,” hinting at a new ideological clash ahead.

A lot of people are talking good about Miyahara vs Shiozaki match. Not a AJPW fag or NOAH fag and felt like him moving away from NOAh was kind of meh but I'm definitely curious about it

It's a fun match. Kento and Go are letting their bad blood out on each other and the crowd is hot the entire time. Go makes a good heel for the match because the crowd wants to see Kento beat him. I'm not sure how I feel about the hug and the feud already ending but I think it's because AJPW is gearing towards a generational clash. I think the Kento era is coming close to a close and AJPW is trying to having Kento prep the younger guys to take the reigns.

At minimum I recommend it and Anzai's match. Both were really good. I have high hopes for Anzai because he looks great and he's solid in the ring.

>[GLEAT] Will CIMA’s Yokohama match be his last? President Suzuki comments: “I think it’s been hard for him to adjust.”

>GLEAT is in turmoil over one of its key figures.

>The shock came at the October 9 Korakuen Hall show. After regaining the G-REX Championship, El Lindaman declared that his first defense would take place on November 3 at Yokohama BUNTAI in Kanagawa. The man he called out as challenger, CIMA, accepted—but with anger, saying, “My match with you will be my last one in this ring.” He went on to admit, “I don’t understand what this company wants me to do anymore. I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do myself.”

>Two weeks later, on October 23, GLEAT president Hiroyuki Suzuki spoke to the press in Tokyo. He said that although he and CIMA are still in contact via email, “As for November 3 and what comes after, neither of us is bringing it up right now. We’re only exchanging what’s absolutely necessary.”

>How does the company interpret CIMA’s frustration? Suzuki explained, “There have been a lot of things under the surface. CIMA has done everything he can on the front line to make GLEAT a truly unique promotion, one that combines his own experience with the company’s philosophy. Along the way, there were many times when we realized that our views of pro wrestling were not always the same.” Referring especially to the strain since the Nagoya show in June of last year, he added, “The management style of GLEAT is very different from the promotions CIMA’s worked with before, and even though he respected and agreed with it, I think it’s been very difficult for him to adjust.”

>Those accumulated tensions finally surfaced on October 9. “As the promoter, I take responsibility for the show, and I understand where CIMA was coming from,” Suzuki said. “But my honest feeling at that moment was that I wanted him to face Lindaman.”

>As for what happens after November 3, Suzuki said, “Of course, I’d like him to continue being part of GLEAT, both during and beyond his current contract.” Yet he also admitted, “At the same time, I want CIMA to stay true to himself. If he feels that something’s not right, then trying to stop him might also be wrong. I keep asking myself that question every day.”

>With CIMA set to appear at the October 25 Umeda Sky Building event in Osaka, Suzuki concluded, “Honestly, I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

I was just thinking the other day that I often read about Anzai (from jp puro twitter), because he's handsome and all but never saw any clip or photo of him on the ring.

>Somehow I’m still alive…
>The surgery finished yesterday afternoon, and I woke up from the anesthesia sooner than expected—so the entire day afterward was 24 hours of pure hell…
>I literally spent the whole day enduring nonstop pain.
>I underestimated knee surgery, I’m sorry.
>Just when the painkillers were starting to work and I was dozing off, the guy next to me started snoring like a monster… that really broke me.
>They said the operation itself went very well, so now all that’s left is to build the strongest “Pelorin” knee ever.
