It's in another thread but they've started releasing people that aren't progressing as wrestlers or they don't see have any future on the main roster.

Wes Lee had no future on the main roster because he's too small. If Carmelo Hayes that was more successful and talented than him became a jobber, what chance does Wes Lee have, and the answer is none

When I watched NXT this guy was featured every week even after coming back from a lengthy injury. Crazy to see him drop off, get demoted to Evolve and then released. Ah well he'll be fine. By Christmas he'll either be back as a TNA guy or he'll be a ROH midcard champion.

I think they released him so he could go be in TNA since they don't have any noncompete issues right now (tna has picked up mara sade for example immediately after she was released) and be involved in the rascalz storyline. He wasn't really doing anything in NXT anyhow.

If they can get a big money paycheck I wouldn't begrudge them but it hasn't worked out for a single TNA talent yet. They go to AEW and AEW immediately disregards whatever made them popular in TNA and slowly stops using them. It has happened over and over. Them talking about the contract in storyline though makes me think the whole thing is a storyline. They've been in limbo for awhile (the rascalz) and Wes coming in and infighting/reuniting them makes sense in multiple ways.

Isn't this mostly because TNA pushed midcard talent to the main event more than anything? Like even a hardcore TNA fan surely doesn't think Josh and Deonna could be top talent in AEW? Good workers sure, but pushed beyond their abilities in TNA

It isn't an issue of being a "top talent" it is an issue of you have a gimmick and fanbase that works for said talent then disregard it because you can do "better" and it never is better and they lose popularity not gain. You should have a much bigger fanbase going to a place like AEW and it never works out that way.

Anon it's about the money. TNA pays next to nothing. Guys like Josh can earn x3-5 as much in AEW. I know it sucks as a fan, but these guys are going from "Damn I might need a second job and what would happen if I got injured?" to "Our kids can go to college and we can put down that deposit"
