Okada is overpaid. As evidenced by the fact that A) He's not a main eventer in his current promotion and B) he sure as fuck doesn't draw enough interest to justify the salary he's paid.
Sure, he's done more main events than Tama Tonga. But so has Kento Miyahara - would anyone argue that Kento is a "bigger name" in pro-wrestling than Tama? Most people have heard of Tama at this point.
And I admittedly have an axe to grind against Okada. New Japan spent a decade building him to the point where he could demand multi-million dollar contracts. They gave him a ton of rub and build they could have given to other guys. And when disaster hit and they needed him most for building the next generation of workers, he decided, "Hey, I want to work in America, I'm gonna chase that bag," instead of taking one for the team and paying back the company that made him what he was.
He was positioned as the Ace. He betrayed that.
So good for him. He's made a bunch of money. But I have no respect for the man. I was a huge fan but, really, fuck him.
