I mean, I was the same way. When you first start digging deeper into any medium most people are going to experience this. Going from nothing but WWE style matches to anything else is going to be incredible the first time you see it.

Then you start watching even older puro, and see the actual good stuff. WCW, JCP, territories, WOS, Lucha and so on.

Then you loop back around and really start appreciating American wrestlers more. Like how good Hogan really was despite his reputation of being bad.

Seems like a pattern with most people, including myself.

I had heard about Kenny omega and the young bucks and how they were some of the best wrestlers in the world. So I watched AEW in 2019 and I didnt get it. I still like Kenny as a wrestler but even at the time I I thought The Elite storylines were self-masturbatory and uninteresting (which still happens nowadays when they feud or reunite in AEW). I was much more interested in watching Okada, Naito, Tana, Ishii, Switchblade etc.
