I think HHH also preferred the 1997 Chyna. And he got less attracted to her when she started getting smaller and bogging herself. If Chyna still looked like that in 1999 I think HHH might not have cheated on her with Stephanie.

I always thought they complimented each other quite well, with that era of Triple H as the blueblood arrogant aristocrat, and his brutish, ugly man valet, it made for a great visual that I don't think has been replicated since. And it definitely helped Hunter come into his own as a performer

for comparison, I never liked Stephanie and Trips as an on screen outfit, I think in part because Stephanie doesn't really have on screen presence like Chyna did, and she is also really fucking annoying. She became less of a part that completed Triple H's act and more of an accessory
