WWE Wants To Keep Andrade Unemployed Without Pay For 1 YEAR
Dangerous precedence by Weinstein Wrestling Entertainment known as WWE.

Surely workers rights Phil Brooks will say something, right?

This is going to shake up the industry. Seems highly illegal.

Is it right to call what wwe does a "non-compete clause"? Because what it usually is is just a notice period of "we're going to fire you in 90 days". But it's been said in this case particularly they did the "we're gonna fire you in 90 days" thing but this time they also said "we're not going to pay you in these 90 days" for something Andrade did, presumably because he completely ghosted them for a while as was reported. Still though, I can't find any precedent for an employer being able to block employment for a year if this notice period is violated, it usually just ends up in the employee getting sued.

Don't you think that would set a bad precedent though?
>Hey, if you're unhappy with your work, you can just NOSHOW a PPV and leave in the middle of your contract AND just go elsewhere with no reprocussions whatsoever!
Especially for an idiot like Andrade who is notoriously a self mark and has a bad attitude, how many would start abusing this? Granted, he was a midcarder and never got over (and left just as he WAS getting over), but many people like him would just start leaving and showing up elsewhere if contracts are so blatantly disregarded. As funny and strange as the situation was, for once, WWE is in the right. Andrade fucked them over and violated the paperwork. He should suffer the consequences.
However, this is to say I think there should be a new stipulation in wrestling contracts where the company is FORCED to give wrestlers 90 days or whatever and guarantee a release if they specifically ask for it. Make it a signature to fully consent to it or something. I saw a video recently where Ziggler said he was initially supposed to be released during his last tenure on a handshake deal (lol) and then got surprised when Vince went back on it purely because he was afraid he'd go to AEW. Shit like that is extremely abusable by the contract holder and there SHOULD be a guaranteed way out for wrestlers.

WWE response was that allowing failing a drug test means you can just go and show up somewhere else was a really irresponsible loophole to leave open and in this case I agree.
If you don't it's even worse than you're just letting people jump around, you're rewarding people for failing drug tests with the ability to break their contract.

I agree that if you break your contract because of a wellness policy you shouldn't get a free card to get paid and or just jump company, if anything and to make it fair force so you can't work in another wrestling promotion and that's it but he can go and work in any other kind of business he wants.

This. This is why it would hold up. This isn't a Karrion Kross case. Or R-Truth. Or every other WWE release or contract expiration that people got up in arms about. Those were just people who did their job, fulfilled their deals, and that was that. Andrade breached his contract and must have had multiple violations to have gotten fired over it.
