The thing that's killing wrestling is the pussification that's happened to it as it's become more corporatized. Half the fun of watching wrestling back in the day was seeing two dumb fucks do shit that might get them hurt. They knew the risks and did it for our entertainment and we were entertained.
Now everything is soft and safe and most non-fans see it as fake and gay.
But don't take this as a defense of AEW. AEW is fake and gay in its own ways, replacing real wrestling with gymnastic routines. People don't want to see that shit either.

I know that there's been a return to form on the Japanese indy circuit (promotions outside New Japan), and it's good that it's going on in some places here as well.
Wrestling doesn't need millions of fans. It just needs to be good. When it's good and not drowned out by crap it draws new fans naturally.
