ESPN Reportedly Losing HUNDREDS of MILLIONS on WWE Deal
Wrestlepalooza only added 100 to 125,000 subscribers, a total failure.

>“If every month ends up kind of like this one… it’s worth $35 million a year. Now, they’re spending $325 million a year for $35 million a year of revenue coming from having these WWE events. Which is a very bad number.”

>“That’s why these companies are losing lots of money on this type of stuff—with the idea that down the road, when we get 50 million subscribers paying 30 bucks, we’ll be able to afford all this.”

Good, wrestling is an athletic event, but shouldn't be associated with other sports

Dumb bitch
>Stephanie McMahon's promotion of a VPN on her podcast caused controversy because it suggested fans could use a Virtual Private Network to access WWE content on Netflix, circumventing the need for expensive cable subscriptions or the upcoming ESPN platform. This created an awkward situation with ESPN, a major partner that will be hosting future WWE premium live events and was not "thrilled" by the promotion, though sources indicate the issue may not be a deal-breaker.

Literal nothingburger. First of all, Dave is very often completely wrong, but also ESPN is working to add ESPN Unlimited to all their pay TV bundles. They're not on Xfinity or YouTube TV yet. I know their contract with YouTube is up this year, and by the time the Royal Rumble comes around you'll be able to watch it with just your YouTube TV login. This will also increase the value of these pay TV bundles leading to fewer cancelations, which is more money for ESPN in the long run.

Kikeltzer is just doing this so ESPN releases the real numbers so he and his spic lover have something to talk about and avoid talking about how bad AEW is doing.

the deal with wwe wasn't to get the money back from wrestling fans. they made the deal to have a big app library that they can leverage cable companies to pay them hundred of millions because the cable subscribers want the "free" EPSN app.

dave is just too stupid to understand business

Wrestling is a scam to get money from idiots. What else is new.

I don't care how much money it makes or loses. Watching Stephen A. Smith have to switch from football/basketball to wrestling is pure fucking gold. You can tell he's livid and he switches to pure teleprompter reading.

There's no way ESPN is getting good value from this. No fan was happy about the change, its three times as expensive to watch PLEs, lot of people are cooling off on the product, VPN, piracy etc.

>50 million subscribers paying 30 bucks
Netflix has 81 million. ESPN probably has a ceiling of 2-5 million, lower if that's the actual price.

>its three times as expensive to watch PLEs
It's included in the cable package you already use to watch SmackDown
Anonymous No.19111021 [Report]

Most people will be getting it included in their cable bundle. Deals have to be put in place but they'll have more by the end of the year. It can also be bundled with other streaming services for a lower price.

Not surprising. We are in the midst of a pro wrestling dark age. The only people who watch are the excessively rich and online losers with nthing else to watch.
