I think the selection is a bit boring. It would have been nice to make a clear distinction between girls who will focus on being teams versus singles wrestlers and get some of the less frequently used wrestlers into the tag division, instead it's mostly the same girls who have been featured weekly for months now. But when you start adding teams to a tournament you can't just add a team here or there, the brackets have to make sense too so you end up with a lot of filler. But other than getting Athena more tv time and putting a belt back on Toni without upsetting the current women's title scenes, I'm not sure who benefits from this.
