I hated Michael Cole for most of my lifetime for similar reasons. I'm mature enough, however, to admit he became a lot better without Old Man Vince screaming at his ear (Shocker).
With that out of the way, after forcing myself again to watch some AEW in the effort of liking it (Also, I do dig some AEW wrestlers; Darby, for example, is extremely likeable in my opinion) I keep screaming at my monitor about this bumbling idiot.
His voice is not broadcast-friendly. I'm not sure if the mask makes his voice muffle, or if he stutters every couple sentences (I'm sorry if it's something you cannot control, but don't have a job that requires you to speak then**!**).
He is not a good communicator. When he gets excited, it sounds forced and unnatural. If I didn't know he was a geek, I wouldn't even be sure he likes wrestling (Knowing move names does not count).
So yeah, I strongly believe with a a decent commentator, AEW would be in a much better place today. (Taz is cool)

I bought almost every PWG dvd from 2009 to 2013 and I never once used the audio track with that faggot's commentary. "el generico is a big boy" popped me though when I saw it on youtube

aew commentary is beyond saving but its infinitely worse when excab is missing. no substitute will save it.

Excalibur knows his shit and knows how to do play by play without being unbearably over the top like Ranalo or Striker. Cole doesn't his shit half as well and has been doing the same fake excitement voice his whole career. His indie roots keep him from having the best made-for-TV voice but I'd take him over most commentators

I really don't like his fake excited voice

The commentary matches the product. When there’s no selling or psychology you can’t put over a move for being devastating or changing the tide of a match. All you can do is shout out the name of the move and maybe give some fun facts about the wrestlers

WWF crushed Jim Ross and Gordie Solie wrestling with Gorilla Monsoon calling all of the wrestlers stupid and Vince McMahon being Michael Cole for Gen X. The issue is AEW doesn't understand weekly pacing. Commentary is autistic complaining. Literally no one cares what you think, not even you.

I like him, but I also like PWG style trash wrestling where you need to know stuff already, and comedy jobber shitters and AEW Dark was my favorite show. Maybe the best thing to happen is for Ex to be kicked from Dynamite and replaced with Riccaboni so AEW can have a more clean cut presentable product (I genuinely despise Riccaboni) and then Ex can do ROH full time and we can fill ROH with the based jobbers who pop me like Peter Avalon and Brandon Cutler and then the tards who complain about AEW being too goofy don't need to worry since it's all contained in another promotion.

I think he's good and clearly has more knowledge of the history and stuff of anyone else that calls aew

Whenever I've listened to AEW commentating it's just them laughing at whatever is happening on screen.
Which in an ordinary promotion would be awful, because if something actually mattered then you'd be shitting over someone getting thrown into thumbtacks or falling 20 feet, but in AEW nothing matters and it's all indie garbage, so who really cares?
