She was over before this. She was always a fan favorite of the horsewomen because she was never pushed as hard as the others, and didn't have any cringe gimmick. She just dressed like a steampunk character.
People were sick of Charlotte constantly getting pushed, so when Becky turned on her, the fans cheered. even during her heel promos, she was getting constant cheers over Charlotte. Their match at Evolution (?) was actually really good and cemented Becky as a fan favorite face.
A month later is when she got her nose broken and it was shocking at the time to see a woman bleed on WWE TV. Becky also plays it off well and that made her even more over with the fans. Then WWE tried too hard to push her as a badass/against all odds Babyface during the build up to that mania with Ronda & Charlotte. The Man quickly became cringe, Becky Two Belts was cringe and it's been all downhill from there. She tries too hard to be a badass or a "star" but isn't athletic enough to back it up in ring. It's been years and she's coasting off that one moment still.
