Rules are simple: Votes are tallied every hour, with whatever course of action being the most popular being the course of action taken. Write ins are encouraged and non-mutually exclusive votes will be combined if possible.

When a roll is called for, roll however many D100 are specified. 5- is a 'crit fail' and generally means something bad is about to happen. 95+ is a 'crit success' and generally means something good just happened. a 'crit success' trumps a crit fail. User input on both will be taken into consideration.

For a short summary for the new and to recap:

You are Alex. A newly minted trainer and camping enthusiast just starting out on your journey at the age of seventeen after your father lost his job in order to help pay the bills. On the road, you met Fie, the Fire Gym Leader, Gareth a novice Aura Guardian on pilgrimage and Holly, a runaway heiress using a pseudonym. You've also made enemies of Team Green a group of violent, radical activists looking to abolish pokemon training.

Recently, Fie returned to her gym for the time being.

Last thread, you caught a Rotom for the roadhouse nurse, had some lunch, meditated with Gareth, introduced Nika to battling and stopped a guy from bothering Martha by challenging him to a battle.

You take a moment and detour to the PC before heading outside and swap out Nika, Fluffy and Piker for Kay O-o, Syurm and Sage.

If this guy's ace is a Grovyle, then you're going to give him a nasty surprise.

And if his team is generally stronger than yours, then Kay O-o should make for a good equaliser.

Your team thus sorted, you head on out to find the guy tossing a ball out on the arena, conveniently facing eastward so you're going to have the setting sun in your eyes.

"Took your time in there, didn't you. I thought you'd chickened out." The guy says. "Three on three, for half what you've got.

>I was debating leaving you standing out here like an idiot.

"Nope, just had to adjust my team after doing some training." You reply. "I'm good with three-on-three, but you sure you can afford half of what you've got?" You ask. "How about a quarter instead."

The guy hesitates, apparently taken aback by your casual attitude.

"...Fine, whatever. Just shut up and let's go." He says, selecting his first pokemon.

"Incinerate." You counter.

The pair of them move almost simultaneously, Sage breathing a sheet of fire which washes over Grovyle and reduces something it was holding to ash and leaves its leaf blades smouldering as Sage is pelted by rocks, reducing her aura to a bruised orange, while Grovyle's is merely yellow.

There's a bruised tint to Sage's aura as well, meaning that the rocks managed to do something else not immediately obvious to her as well.

"Tch." The guy spits. "Quick attack." He orders.

"Mystical Fire!" You order in response.

Sage teeters as her aura drops to the red, before she waves her stick and sends a sheet of blue, sparkling fire at Grovyle, striking it across the back and sending it sprawling.

"Tch." The guy says as he recalls his Grovyle. "Ninetales, Quick Attack!" He says as he releases his second pokemon.

An Alolan Ninetales, which is a mild surprise, but if he's going with an Ice type against a fire type...

You don't have the time to ponder though as Ninetales comes barrelling in.

"Mystical Fire!" You order.

Sage staggers as she takes Ninetales' charge, her aura flickering angrily as she straightens, before she waves her stick again and blasts it with another sheet of blue fire, which has the effect of knocking it out.

Sage sags afterward though, leaning on her stick and panting heavily.

That hit *hurt.* You get the distinct impression that Sage is only up right now through a combination of sheer determination and Ninetales being somewhat weaker than Grovyle was.

Either way, there's likely no way Sage can take another hit without winding up hurt.

The guy looks *pissed* now as well.

"Tch. Go, Skuntank!" He orders.

Oh, *fuck*.

You're not even necessarily worried about what the guy intends, so much as the appalling smell these pokemon's poison is notorious for.

"Rrr! Skuntank, Flamethrower!"

"Rusty, Iron Head!" You order.

All the effort you've put into speed training with Rusty is really paying off.

Rusty charges in as Skuntank is charging its attack and leaps up at Skuntank's face, landing a solid hit under Skuntank's chin.

Despite the experience gap, it's a *hard* hit to Skuntank's throat and even if Skuntank wasn't half blind, catching a solid sixty kilo mass charging as fast as Rusty was moving to the throat would mess most any pokemon up.

Skuntank's attack is forgotten as it chokes in the aftermath, sputtering, coughing and gasping for breath as Rusty bounds around and squares up for another attack.

Skuntank's aura is well into the yellow after that, but for all intents and purposes, it might as well be unable to battle with how it's sputtering and gasping and being half-blind from its misfired Toxic.

"Rusty, hold up." You order and he obediently trots back to you pacing in clear readiness to continue as Skuntank continues to cough and wheeze.

"What the fuck was that? Going for the throat!" The guy says, indignant.

"It was an accident." You assure. "Take a minute and let Skuntank recover." You advise.

The guy eyes you suspiciously as Skuntank finally catches its breath and composes itself as its trainer looks it over, confirming Skuntank is alright.

When he resumes his mark, he clears his throat.

"Let's try that again - Skuntank, Flamethrower." He orders.

You notice that the guy appears to have taken the opportunity to wipe the Toxic poison out of Skuntank's face as well.

An action he's probably going to regret, but it won't be too bad so long as he doesn't touch his eyes or face before you can take him to the nurse for a proper scrubbing.

"Iron Head, again." You order Rusty and he charges again, bulling through a frankly anemic Flamethrower and crashing into Skuntank's shoulder.

Skuntank might have caught its breath back, but it's pretty clear that getting hit in the throat by Rusty rattled it and weakened it into the bargain.

You also realise you're seeing the fruits of Rusty's supplements while he was shedding - he's moving more nimbly now because his carapace is lighter than it was and as a side benefit, it seems like he wasn't as effected by that Flamethrower as he otherwise might have been.

His aura is still down from bright green to pale green, but considering Steel types are weak to Fire moves, that's still remarkably little damage. Even from a fairly weak Flamethrower.

"cunt." The guy mutters under his breath, but doesn't actually issue an order straight away, just glares pure venom at you.

Which, if he's convinced that Rusty hitting Skuntank in the throat was deliberate, fair enough, you guess but that *was* an accident.

You get the feeling he's wised up a little though and is now determined to win, even if he is two pokemon down.

"Finish it with Dragon Tail!" You declare.

"Sucker Punch!" The guy orders with a victorious gleam in his eye, only for Skuntank to punch air as Rusty glances at you curiously.

"Wha-" The guy asks, too taken aback to be angry.

"Worth a try." You say to yourself. "Wanted to see if he'd be able to figure it out." You explain.

The guy goes to ask why, then seems to think better of it.

"Whatever. Skuntank, Flamethrower again." He orders, apparently deciding you're not taking this seriously.

"Protect." You order.

Skuntank seems to have recovered from Rusty's assault, because this next Flamethrower is far more intense and about what you'd expect of a pokemon that looks to have the experience it does.

Really, it's to Rusty's credit that he's done the damage he has to Skuntank when he's the less experienced combatant in the match.

Still, it'll only take one good hit from Skuntank to turn things around and the longer you drag this out, the more precarious things become.

And you don't need aura to see Skuntank's about as angry as its trainer with Rusty right now, which makes it dangerous.

"Alright Rusty, Iron Head!" You order.

Rusty charges.

"Flamethrower - cook the little fuck!" The guy snarls.

Skuntank breathes another intense tongue of flame as Rusty charges in, evidently recovered from the hit to the throat, before the flame is abruptly cut off as Rusty slams into its shoulder with bulleting force, before Skuntank slumps in defeat.

"Ah, fuck!" The guy says, burying his face in his hands.

"Er..." You begin.

"Yeah, what cunt?" The guy spits.

"...Did you clean your hand after you wiped that toxic poison out of Skuntank's face?" You ask awkwardly, indicating his hand, which already looks kind of irritated and inflamed to your eye.

The guy pauses and his eye go wide as he pales.

"...No..." He says, snapped out of his anger by the sobering realisation that he just *royally* fucked up.

"I'd go and speak to the nurse." You advise seriously.

The guy barely stops to return his Skuntank before sprinting inside.

"Phew..." You shake your head before looking to Rusty and giving him a thumbs up. "Great work, Rusty." You say, kneeling down to pet him as he bounds over, before you recoil as you realise that he did actually get hit by Flamethrower and while it wasn't long enough to do too much harm to him, his carapace is uncomfortably hot to the touch just now.

You can't really give him a pat right now, but you do sit down and watch as Rusty runs around. You guess this is the first time he's really gotten to run around after his most recent molt.

He's looking really energetic and seems to be taking the opportunity to test just how fast he can run and how agile he can be now his carapace has lightened somewhat.

Once he's finally cooled off enough you can pick him up, you notice that he *is* a little lighter.

Not by *too* much, but it's clear that the silver and zinc are having the desired effect.

"You are going to be an absolute speed demon when you evolve, Rusty." You say, polishing his carapace with your cuff.

He blinks up at you, before giving a cute little growl and settling on your lap while you pet him.

You're at this for a bit before you recall him and head in... To find Martha looking very pleased and to hear the muffled sounds of of someone getting screamed at from the back of the pokemon center.

Martha waves you over as Gareth and Holly look at you questioningly.

"So, not that I'm complaining, but how'd that guy wind up getting Toxic poisoned?" She asked curiously.

"It was an accident." You reply, before outlining what happened with the Toxic misfire and Rusty's accidental throat-shot.

Martha shook her head and snorted when you're done.

"Idiot." She pronounces with no small amount of scorn.

"Why didn't you tell him to wipe his hands?" Holly asks with a frown.

"Well I didn't think I'd have to." You reply. "It was bloody stupid to wipe up toxic poison with his bare hands in the first place." You add.

"He's right." Gareth confirms with a nod. "That guy did that to himself and Alex shouldn't have needed to say anything on the topic." He adds.

"Anyway, thanks for stepping in there, Alex." Martha says, giving you a thumbs up. "I don't know what it is that guys think that if I'm by myself I want company and that I'm playing hard to get if I turn 'em down." She adds, shaking her head.

"Bad luck on your part and a chronic lack of manners, if I were to guess." Gareth opines. "How'd the battle go, anyway?

"Not bad. Rusty and Sage excelled themselves." You reply, before recounting it for the others' edification.

"Be careful about hits like that with Sage. You don't want her getting hurt." Martha cautions. "That being said, if she was still up and looking to fight, you made the right call trusting she had that." She adds. "It's a fine line, but pokemon appreciate their trainers trusting them in those tight spots." She adds.

"Yeah?" You ask, curiously.

That sounds an awful lot like unnecessary risk to you, but maybe that's working in a pokemon center so much.

"She's right." Gareth confirms. "But you've still got to be careful that your pokemon aren't misjudging their limits. Being able to read aura helps in that regard, but it's not necessarily a foolproof means of judging things."

You nod, thinking back over the battles you've fought so far and especially the close calls and injuries your team have taken so far.

>You don't think there was necessarily anything you could have done better or differently. That was just bad luck.
>You should've been more careful.
>In hindsight, you've been playing it kind of cautiously. Maybe you should trust your pokemon to know their limits a little more.

Thinking back, you don't really see how you could have done anything differently all the injuries your team have suffered have been the results of bad hits you couldn't have done anything about, or the result of inexperience like when Blitz chipped his tooth with Crunch and the latter is an injury you've learned from and have made sure not to repeat the circumstances of where you could avoid it. Kay O-o learning Outrage how and when he did and injuring Volta in the battle with Team Green was very much an example of the same sort of injury as Blitz's tooth, but that was spontaneous happenstance.

While you're thinking, you head up and get some food with the others on auto-pilot before returning to your seat.

"You're awful quiet all of a sudden. Credit for your thoughts?" Martha asks.

"Oh, just thinking." You reply absently. "Trying to see if there's anything different I could have done to avoid any of the injuries my team have had." You clarify when Martha gives you a Look in response for your vagueness.

"Anything leap out at you?" Martha asks.

You shake your head.

"Not really." You admit.

"Then there probably wasn't much you could have done." Martha replies simply.

You nod heavily and focus on dinner for a while, before your thoughts turn back to training.

Rusty's coming along, but that battle got you thinking - you probably ought to start teaching him more moves soon.

"Say, Martha..." You say at length as you finish your meal.

"Mm...?" She asks around a mouthful of fish.

"You wouldn't happen to have any pokemon that know Iron Tail, would you?" You ask.

Martha swallows her mouthful of food and takes a drink before she replies.

"Sure. Thinking of teaching that Aron of yours, huh?" She asks.

You nod in confirmation.

"Yeah, my Dragonair knows it." She says. "If you want help with move training tomorrow, then we can do that when we stop for the evening. Sound good?" She asks.

You nod in confirmation.

Once you've finished dinner, you finish your laundry and talk for a bit, before the day starts to catch up to you and you head up to bed.
