EMPIRE: To say that we were perplexed would be an understatement. We plainly had no idea where we drifted at this moment in time. There were no leads on this system in our available data, nothing from a scandoc, nothing even pointed that the survey corps had once passed through here, and to much of the crew that came as an omen. We were submersed in an unknown vacuum, and there was nothing around us. The farthest planet to the dwarf sun nearby we could see was a gas giant, distant and out of reach, but before us was an oddity. We'd never seen anything like it.
COVENANT: A wedged vessel, somewhat outweighing our own, in a bright silver and clear sheen, just like us, and so close to the sacred ring that it gave some of us a pause in breath. It stirred a deeply protective and intimate sense within the crew. Some were eager to open fire immediately, and scour the unknown away from the face of the holy, to protect the ring we were already paralyzed by, just as would be right to. We weren't alone in this system. We were head to head, face to face with a surprise and to many of us, it was a nasty one.
EMPIRE: They were almost ton for a ton an equal to us. Just like this system, data had nothing on a vessel like that. Because of how strangely strewn their assembly was, with a necropolis standing in the curves of their smooth armor, some of the crew were led to believe it was a MonCal make, a design of some kind we'd just never properly seen. The most we could tell was that they were here first, and they were seemingly just as interested in the ringworld we found as we are. Maybe even fond of it.

COVENANT: Could they talk? Would they talk?
EMPIRE: We had to see.
COVENANT: The first sign of their hail was the "flicker" we sensed over supraluminal lengths. The released voice we had expected. We need only hear this voice and see the face behind it to compose our just judgment. We must act with haste and virtue.
EMPIRE: Our subspace communication was being picked up. A good sign that it was possible to ease the tension in our nerves, but not a guarantee...

Welcome to DREADNOUGHTS: Clash of Giants. In this oneshot, we will be experiencing and simulating cross-universe perspectives in which the infamy of the GALACTIC EMPIRE faces off against the ruthlessness of the COVENANT HEGEMONY in a naval confrontation. The key to victory will be the sound mind and strategy you take. Players will both be assigned to a team which they must guide to victory together.

I do remember I made a big plot hole back then about the Super Tactical that still bums me to this day lmao, at the least I can say for sure I've taken care to improve my plots to prevent such things again like in my main quest right now, CHAOS, and I'm doing it by keeping copious amounts of notes lol, more than I did for BDQ. I'm gonna do my best to keep delivering quality.

COVENANT: We waited with bated breath...
EMPIRE: So we began to transmit our hailing message and flagged the ship.
ACTION: His voice was like gravel, speaking no short volume to the career his life had a tenor for as he stared with a passive, yet aggressive gleam at the monitor's screen. It was that kind of glazed over look that saw these instruments and their usage, in all the places among this ship, as something that was deeply tired and frozen. His years just continued to stack and this entire event was no more than one of the potholes in the road to him. "I am Admiral Van Leuwenhoek of the Imperial Navy. I speak on behalf of the First Galactic Empire. I am asking for you to divulge your identity and appellation, as well as your origin and purpose in this system. I am transmitting visual data now, unknown vessel."
ACTION: "You trespass upon a holy vicinity."
ACTION: "I beg your pardon, unknown vessel?"
COVENANT: They had shown their face and so now we showed ours. The Supreme Commander took to the interface without hesitation. He was the soul of action that captured our sacred Covenant. He was the honor of the Covenant, for us to be escort to the holy ones as they searched for Halo's radiance.
ACTION: His mind was on the edge, and he was without hesitation in his measured approach, swiftly engaging in the conversation. "You speak to Supreme Commander Qu 'Esiit, backed by the fleet of rapturous scale, humans. You have violated the very air of the sacred ring with your poisonous presence. Heretics will burn."
ACTION: "Heretics? What do you mean by that?" He comes, his confusion manifest; "I've never seen a species like you before in my life, yet you act as if you know us."
ACTION: "I know that your frail kind are flammable. Allow me to show you."
COVENANT: Spurn us yet, the hour had come and now we fight. They, filthy and most pungent, had to be purged. Cleansed away. Our crew were in righteous uproar.
EMPIRE: Our crew was stirring under the all too familiar ringing of the ship's alarm. We had no choice but to make a stand, it seemed.
COVENANT: We'll take our offense here against the heart of corruption and strike at the source with blinding might and resounding rage.
EMPIRE: We'll let them know they made the greatest mistake of their life charging weapons against the venerable line of the Star Destroyer.

ACTION: The fleet of rapturous scale put power behind their repulsor engines, speeding forward into the fray, forward to wet their tongues and satisfy their lust with the blood of heretics. (Moving forward...)
COVENANT: Our flagship was most punctual and on top of this engagement. We used gravitic sensors to sniff out the hazards of space. Large chunks of rock adrift in the void. We had them now. And while we sped gloriously towards our foes for battle, our shipmaster began reciting the oath of the Writ of Union over supraluminals into our ears, giving us a sense of vigor for this fight. A sermon to bolster our already high spirits.

ACTION: On the yonder region of space, with distance closing quickly, the Imperial fleet moved, shifting their spearhead formation ever slightly, spacing their vessels out to provide more vectors and coverage. A defensive formation for the Immobilizer cruisers, now huddling with engines alight to the shadow of the Bellator.
EMPIRE: We'd trap them here. They were rushing towards us like madmen, begging us to sink them where they flew. Our Interdictors come in handy for tying down enemies ripened with unknown variables that our scandocs provide no insight for, the gravity wells will arrest any attempts at jumping to Hyperspace for sure. They think we are trapped here with them. It is they who will not be leaving this place alive. The Bellator's hangers were already swarming with activity as pilots began to enter the cockpits of their fighter. Our Interceptors will keep them off the mark.

EMPIRE: The enemy was still outside our comfortable range. We put some power into thrust to ease ourselves just into the comfort zone, so ripping their boats apart with a turbolaser hail would be easy. We let ourselves go into drift, and began a Base Delta Zero. This order, normally used for surface bombardment actions, was quite effective in the void for simply spraying and praying. Yes, they were outside comfortable range but within uncomfortable range. A turbolaser would fly for a while before dissipating. So, simply fire everywhere towards them and hope some sailing bolts hit.

>>6239233>shouldn't the covenant be at 1x space banshee since they started with 4 and lost 3Ach, this is true. Oversight on my part.
>>6239220What do tractor beams do exactly?
>>6239256They ensnare the smaller vessels, the SDV heavy corvettes, preventing them from being able to move or fire, leaving them completely helpless. This will subtract from the enemy's damage number on an attack phase.
>>6239264expected, but nice to hear it anyways. how long does it lasts ?

>>6239233Agreed on all decision except shutting down the generators. They might not be jumping because we're not giving them the option to micro jump. If we give them that option again, they might just jump behind us where we can't shoot at them.
>>6239278Yes, brother. I'll keep martyring our troops. That's the reason behind my bad rolling, I understand now.
>>6239233+1 except shutting down all the Immobilizers.
Can the Immobilizers cover each other? Keep one active while the other two move, then swap?
>>6239338>>6239446alright, I gotta ask OP if the gravity well still ward off the enemies' jumps with the ships distant from the main fleet.
>>6239446>>6239758So long as one ship is active the gravity well will distort the ability to microjump, though if only one is active the Covies may be able to bypass it with a roll just on the fact that Hyperspace and Slipspace are differently principled things.
Also it's like 2AM and I've only just now gotten home from seeing my parents all night so I'll wait until daytime to update. Feel free to continue strategizing knowing this until then and let me know if you have any more questions.
>>6239935alright, I just wanted to know if the ships being far away made a difference or not. I think we can disable it from 1or 2 to bring them closer to the fight, if my allies agree.

COVENANT: Point defenses now. All hands, prepare for second reckoning. Fire excavator now.
ACTION: At long last, the move they sought comes to fruition against the heretics, and the great carrier that ferried them through space did exalt with fire profound and potent. The glassing beam of their superheavy Infernus pattern emitter scorched the Bellator, first piercing the coating of the shield, then melting its hide as it swept across the hull, transforming it into something hot, molten and red that glowed in the vacuum. The molten surface of its hull began to seep downward, searing more stations and bodies, like a condensate of lava pouring into the veins. The bridge of the ship was cloven, sliced in half yet by the sword of the Covenant, and the ship fell silent.
EMPIRE: ...Admiral Van Leuwenhoek is dead. We've lost primary command. We're forwarding command to secondary bridge and Star Destroyers now. The dreadnought's systems are not responding. All hands, keep it together! Keep it together no matter what!

In deep space, the tides are ushers to fierce session. Though the humanity of an iron reign fought wildly, no amount of experience could prepare them for the zealots who upheld the Covenant. Perhaps, their one mistake, being a force undisputed in an unpredictable galaxy, was standing against an enemy they could predict too well, an enemy willing to drive themselves right into their foes no matter what if it meant killing them. The corpses will calcify in deep space, preserved for all time to come, and so will the dead hulks of their ships. But for those who had faith in a possessive creed, it is not enough to have merely struck down the enemy dreadnought. They know their human foes are still out there, and they will be all the more determined to find them.
And burn them.
