Ninety-Nine waited until the sisters arrived. Sitting on top of a rubbles, armors torn, she stared at her hands and claws. She failed. Her comrades laid dead, the camp destroyed, and no news of the battle. The distant thunders of artillery and zaps of pulse weapons echoed, Ninety-Nine watched the guardsmen moving about, but she found herself with the quartermaster of the company that arrived with Tobias.
Ninety-Nine walked across the field, covered in a spare with burnt edges and torn from being pulled under the debris. While this was no robe, the tarp covered enough to keep her from shame of her body. Though she had to admit, freely walking not encased in armor without the derision or disgust liberated her a small part of her worries.
“I need weapons.”
“Weapons, a—agent?” The quartermaster said with a nervous stutter. “We don’t have much to spare as of the moment. Maybe one.”
Various heavy armaments stood against the wall, along with few grenades and melee weapons too small for her to find. She saw a heavy stubber and a lascannon being the only heavy weaponries available.
“What about things to hit with?”
“Chainswords and bayonets but nothing for your uh… stature.” The quartermaster said.
“Give me…”
>The Heavy stubber

Ninety-Nine looked around the rubble, looking for a dependable material to make a weapon out of. She found…

Ninety-Nine took time to learn the heavy stubber, or ‘stubby’ to have the weapon be less mouthful. The Vraks Pattern heavy stubber had one barrel with a drum magazine, the heaviest variant of a heavy stubber that required two man to operate. To Ninety-Nine, the heavy stubber hardly registered to her. The chains barely scraped her exoskeleton, while she never tried a fist based weapon, the idea of crushing the Tau in her hands burned brightly in her eyes.
“I need armor.” Ninety-Nine said.
“We don’t have any armor that’d fit you… I think.”
Ninety-Nine snarled frustratedly. “Then where are the enemies?”
“The xenos, they’re uh… Everywhere.” The quartermaster said confusedly. “I’ll get someone that knows better.”
Minutes after, a cadian guardsman arrived, and gave Ninety-Nine the basic layout of the current battlefield. As of the moment, the Tau enemy are at the brink of defeat, but two leadership figures lead a deadly defense. One was a Tau named Nyserra who led counter attacks in a ferocity unseen by Taus, and another high-ranking Tau who is leading the biggest hurdle of the final push. These were extracted from a human that betraye mankind by fighting for the xenos.
“What do you think?”
The scout looked up with a nervous gaze and swallowed hard. “Your… ladyship, I do not dare instruct what the holy agent of the inquisition should target.”
“But I’m asking.”
“Well—”
A golden light erupted from the distance. Guardsmen and sisters prayed at the sight. Ninety-Nine decided…

Shas’vre Nyserra
Ninety-Nine read through her new target’s information, this xeno was at a rank of a step above sergeant and considered to be very experienced. Ninety-Nine read every page with intense focus. She found a pattern. Wherever she was, this xeno was there as well. If Sister Celestine was fighting her own battles, so would Ninety-Nine. After asking the nearby guardsman to write the summary of the information and a route to the latest location, Ninety-Nine set off.
Through the torn buildings, abandoned tunnels, and long stretches of battlefield, Ninety-Nine arrived at the top of a small building on a small part of the city on the hill. Many drones and battlesuits flew and distant sounds of fighting could be heard. Las on pulse, missiles to missiles. A series of tau infantry patrolled along with the vehicles she saw before.
Shas’vre was her target.
She only had a heavy stubber and her own two claws and fists.
Ninety-Nine scratched her head. Unsure of what to do.
A nearby infantry squad began to climb up the stairs. Ninety-Nine hid in the dark corner of a debris-ridden roof, her eyes widened as her vision focused. Ninety-Nine…

>>6241588>Chose to draw out the sergeant through righteousness retribution [Choose which weapon to use first]>Weapon>Chainsword chains wrapped around her hands to forearmsNyserra will fly toward us when there is comms chatter about us. As in a lot of comms chatter, something that is clearly Ninety Nine and not a mistake of panicked soldiers seeing something similar. As such, we keep the ammo of the heavy stubber for anything dangerous like vehicles or suits. Infantry is only dangerous if we give them time, we dont and in melee we have the advantage since we are big and tall like a Warrior (and more armored).
Slaughter this infantry squad then move to the next, and the next one afterwards. After that we just have to wait in the shadows while snacking on a Tau. A kill team will be here in a few minutes, with Nyserra either leading it or being part of it. If we are fortunate Nyserra might just get faster here than her kill team, and we can start shooting her.

Chose to draw out the sergeant through righteous retribution. Ninety-Nine eyed the oncoming infantry squad and the vehicle floating. Once in range, she leapt, diving freely until she landed on the vehicle. The very weight crashed into the hatch of the TY7 Devilfish, the surrounding dust exploded into a dusty cloud. The fire warriors coughed, then froze as a tall silhouette slowly stood up on top of the crushed Devilfish. Was this the rumored Gue'ron'sha*?
No.
Couldn’t be.
They did not have a tail.
“Fire!”
The pulse rifles zapped. Blue bolts punched through the clouds. Ninety-Nine lunged forward, two fists wrapped in the holy chains of the chainsword. Ninety-Nine’s punches tore a hole in torsos, heads exploded into bits of flesh and metal, and her tail rendered her enemies into jagged cuts of meat. One tau charged forward.
“MONSTER!”
Ninety-Nine whipped her tail and tripped the tau to the ground. This one, the last of the squad, would die slow. Ninety-Nine tore the armor with her talon and pulled the soft innards. The flesh stretched up like stringy rubber as the human traitor screamed. Ninety-Nine lifted her head and lowered the fresh snack into her maw. She licked the blood stained lips.

>>6243736Alright, because this is our first nat 20, 99 will be able to figure out how to use a pulse rifle, and will gain +2 to intelligence. No other rolls will be counted.
Nice!
Ninety-Nine turned the square rifle to the other side. There was the trigger, the barrel at the end, this yellow brick rifle seemed similar to the lasgun except it shot blue instead of red. Ninety-Nine slinked back into the shadows in the corners of the taller buildings. Several infantry squads converged to the place of slaughter. Ninety-Nine hopped roof to roof in silence, and attacked once more. Ninety-Nine jumped from the roof. The Devilfish moved just in time to avoid the cannonball of flesh, but the fire warrior did not.
“What is tha—”
Whatever her enemy’s aspiration, fear, and hope was, disappeared, and turned into an element of the floor from the sheer weight and force. Ninety-Nine stood back up, she held up her improvised shield.
"It's the predator!"
"I thought that was a myth!"
"Shoot it down! Shoot it down!"
The xenos enemies fired. Ninety-Nine’s shield and body took on the pulse bolts. The club with the chainsword chain swung at the first enemy. Xenos exploded into chunks and piece regardless of armor, showering their nearby comrades in sticky blue blood.
“We’re in sector ten! We are engaged with the target, back up! We—”
Red splattered on the dusty wall. The floor, lamppost, other walls, no longer had dust and soot but a fresh coat of organic paint. The sound of footsteps and engines followed. Ninety-Nine climbed up a building, there, she saw a better layout of the area. One location had a large vehicle with xenos offloading crates, the other… a tent full of injured warriors.

Whatever the cargo crates and vehicles carried, must have something important. Ninety-Nine quickly sped through the streets and through a wide alleyway. The weight and the sheer force of her body ran over the first Tau she saw. A splatter of blue painted the floor, and the remaining fire warriors noticed the hulking beast, The Predator of City Nineteen. The warriors quickly snapped into battle, and gathered into one group.
“Fire! Fire! Don’t let the beast get to the cargo!”
Ninety-Nine raised her shield and tanked through the raining blue bolts. The fire warriors dove, but those without speed became paste under Ninety-Nine’s feet or mists with her mighty club. Red and blue gore caked between the chains and her body. After decimating the remaining Tau forces, Ninety-Nine opened the crates. She found various food, armors, weapons, and various goods critical to the battlefield.
“Hm…”
A roaring whoosh sped across the air. Ninety-Nine looked up, five twinkling Tau enemies sailed in the air and looped back around to Ninety-Nine. Those accursed blue bolts rained. Ninety-Nine raised her shield up and dove into the nearby building. She waited, an explosion rocked the building over and over. Ninety-Nine jumped through the shattered window, and was again fired upon.

Talons and claws dug into the building walls. A hot wind blew as Ninety-Nine climbed further and further. The pulse bolts hit the shield strapped behind Ninety-Nine and her exposed exoskeletons. Despite the pain, Ninety-Nine quickened her pace, she climbed further until she saw other buildings across the horizon. The flock of battlesuits altered their altitude. Ninety-Nine licked her lips, then jumped once the battlesuits came close.
“Oh no…”
And missed her mark.
The bitter air swept as Ninety-Nine fell. She tried to catching something, anything. Ninety-Nine caught a pole, but her weight bent the pole. Through roofs and other debris she smashed through, Ninety-Nine crash-landed deep into the pile of debris. A small part of Ninety-Nine wondered is she needed to lower her weight.
Maybe.
Footsteps and roaring vehicles' engines gathered. Ninety-Nine quickly emerged from the debris. Ninety-Nine searched for her weapons. The heavy-stubber remained but the club disappeared in the rubbles.
“Surround the monster!”
“Move it! Don’t let the predator get a hold of the battle’s momentum!”
The gathering drew closed, footsteps echoed from above and on the ground. Various fire warriors and battlesuits surrounded Ninety-Nine. Pulse bolts shot from all directions. Ninety-Nine escaped the rubbles and out to the streets, where Devilfish ships and heavy fire warrior troopers fired. Ninety-Nine…

Ninety-Nine fired her heavy stubber. The lead belching stubber sprayed armor piercing bullets in a furious roar. The stubs penetrated the fire warriors but dented the armor. From door to door, ground to higher floors, and from a small opening, Ninety-Nine ran and gunned down her enemies while dodging and tanking enemy fire from the ground and the sky.
“Kill the damn thing!”
“Keep firing!”
The xenos followed, or, they tried to. Ninety-Nine’s powerful legs sprang roof to roof, and sprinted faster than any fire warriors could catch up on. Any brave enough to tackle or to pile on Ninety-Nine met a grisly end by becoming a part of the walls or the ground. A flock of battlesuits descended slowly as they shot missiles and pulse bolts. Ninety-Nine climbed on to a roof and fired back.
“Die!” Ninety-Nine roared
The heavy bullets hit the battlesuits, but one lucky bullet hit the one at the center and the engine. The battlesuit slowly descended with a trail of smoke. The other battlesuits followed then a heavy crash echoed. Ninety-Nine followed the smoke trail with her stubber and her pulse rifle.
There they are…
From afar, Ninety-Nine watched the squad of battlesuits surrounding the injured Tau. Even if she could hear their words, their foul tongue was incomprehensible. However, they were grounded, and perhaps ripe for harvesting.
Ninety-Nine’s stomach growled. She craved meat.

Update will be made in the evening
The enemy surrounded their leader in a frantic haze while the injured leader seemed too relaxed. Ninety-Nine dipped into the crevices of the shadows, bypassing each sentries and drones watchful eyes. Ninety-Nine jumped to the next building and landed with a barely audible tap, roof to roof, pillar to pillar, Ninety-Nine drew closer to her target and wondered what they were saying.
“You’re injured, captain, and your battlesuit is non-operational.”
“Then leave me here…” Nyserra said with a heavy exhale. “Find the creature on your own.”
“What if it’s targeting you?” Her comrade tried to pry the battlesuit open to fish her out. “We can’t leave you here, not when you never left us.”
She scoffed. “It’s a creature made from some primitive lab. It’s not smart enough for it. I’m certain it’s just indiscriminately killing. ”
The creature fell on a battlesuit like a vengeful meteorite. Nyerra’s eyes widened. Her squadmates immediately grabbed her suit while her other comrades fired. Their choice of not taking flight first sealed their end. The creature shoved its hand into the chassis and ripped it open and pulled his stringy innards.
“Haino!”
Her second comrade activated its thrusters and just as it flied the creature grabbed his leg and pulled him down. Nyserra helplessly watched her second comrade being dug out and have her neck bit off in a blue gooey mess.
“Damn it that gue’vesa gun also shot our thrusters! Come on come on!”
The thrusters coughed out a weak breath over and over, but never a full roar.
The creature…

Ninety-Nine glanced back, a battlesuit with a sputtering thruster followed, she turned back to grab the fleeing battlesuits. Their thrusters streamed a blue flame, but just as they flew Ninety-Nine yanked them down.
“Finally…” Ninety-Nine sighed. “Time to—”
Another battlesuit crashed into her, causing her to stumble.
“I’ve had just enough of this!”
Ninety-Nine’s tail whipped, slicing the battlesuit that interrupted in half, then kicked the second battlesuit’s center and sent it through a brittle building wall. The final battlesuit was already damaged, and the enemy xenos stared back with hatred in her eyes but did not move. Ninety-Nine grabbed the surviving Tau’s head and ripped it off along with the spine that followed.
“I should go back to the camp, I’m sure they’re worried about me…”
A golden light appeared on her chest, and soon encased her.
“Wait, no, Emperor, I need to go back and help everyone else!”
Darkness. Ninety-Nine followed a horizontal light that widened with a pressurized hiss, it was a door. Two battlemasters and one familiar face stood still, the lady with the funny eye she met when she fought the red astartes. The final individual was…
“Ninety-Nine?”
It was…

It was a golden giant with a purple cloak. There was Greyfax, another battle master, but the purple custodian piqued Ninety-Nine’s tired but alerted attention. The area smelled different, the wall appeared the same as her old home, so did the floor along with the cold air. Yet… Different. Ninety-Nine scratched her cheek. What difference bothered her so much yet she could not see it?
“As I’ve said, Inquisitor, that is none of your concern.” The Shield Host Custodian said.
“Hi Inquisitor Greyfag!” Ninety-Nine waved.
“It’s, Greyfax.” The Inquisitor said with gritted teeth. “If there is nothing else, I shall take my leave.”
He approached without disgust unlike the inquisitor and the astartes, and without fear like the Inquisitor’s assistant. Ninety-Nine looked left and right, her tall tail stood up high and stiff with the Tau’s head in hand. Her shoulders tightened and she held the head in her arms tighter.
“Ninety-Nine. The head. Hand it over.”
Ninety-Nine cocked her own head, then extended the hand that held the head. “This one?”
The custodian took the head and gave it to the astartes. “Am I in trouble?”
“No, you are not in trouble Ninety-Nine.” The custodes said. “Captain, lead us to a more suitable room. Follow, Ninety-Nine.”
Ninety-Nine did as she was told, and arrived at a cold room with a solid certamite table with plenty of chairs too small for her but plenty of crates.
“Sit where you like.”
Ninety-Nine hopped on a crate.
“Ninety-Nine, do you feel any different?”
She shrugged. “This place feels different.”
“That’s because this is not your home, this is Watch Fortress Erioch, and you just exited a vault. Were you able to see anything inside?”
She shook her head. “It was too dark. But there was a light and I saw you.”
“I see. How much time do you think it has passed between now and when you fought the xenos?”
She shrugged. “Kinda short? I wish I was there to fight longer.”
The custodian nodded. “A good answer. Tell me, how have you felt about the people around you?”

“There were nice people, but many of them didn’t like me. They called me a lot of mean names.”
“You were called an abomination or a monster?”
Ninety-Nine nodded.
“I see.” The custodian said.
The sterile light above hummed. The air to a mortal would have been freezing, but for Ninety-Nine the air tickled with a cold kiss, her tail took over most of the space. The custodian pressed the button to the door and gestured Ninety-Nine to follow, she walked beside the custodian while checking the walls and sniffing the air. The corners and the walls carried a different presence.
“This is Watch Fortress Erioch. Not Watch Fortress Jubilance.”
“Then when can I go back home?”
“Once the threat of the ork is eliminated.”
Ninety-Nine and the custodian entered a command room. The panopticon of the room displayed an area of many planets and small words Ninety-Nine could not see. Various screens of cogitatos hung from the ceiling like fruits on a vine. The servitors gasped out commands, strapped to their machines with web of wires and rusty bolts.
“Orks, like many xenos, are violent and mindless much like the tyranids.” The custodian said. “There is a massive group soon to form, and we must stop them. Have you ever faced an ork?”
She shook her head.
“Then you will have the opportunity. Until the reconnaissance mission is completed you will have time to learn.”

Inside the cold laboratory, pods filled with gray, viscous liquid contained various xeno species. Green hulking monsters, Taus, —actually, the head she brought now remained inside the pod— , ten tentacle limbed xenos, even a lithe looking human… Ninety-Nine’s head turned in all directions to see all the strange creatures and wonder about their flavors.
“Come along, Ninety-Nine.”
“Nn.” Ninety-Nine said, eyes still glued to the strange samples.
Other than the pods, strange metal limbed contraptions moved in a continuous motion. The metal slabs that served as the platform for the metal limbs cut open a piece of meat, then stitched the thinly cut skin back. The astartes operator continued his work, most realizing the eyes of the half-breed monster, or not caring at all.
“What is that?”
“That is the surgical machine, to examine the bodies of xenos to kill them more efficiently.”
Ninety-Nine and the custodian arrived to a room with a giant cube made of clear materials, holding a creature Ninety-Nine did not see before.
“This is an ork.”
A green hulking monster with tusks and pointy ears screamed and banged on the cube’s wall. The ork seemed to say something, but Ninety-Nine could not understand. This ork, compared to Ninety-Nine, wasa foot shorter.

Learning was hard. For the past few days, Ninety-Nine studied bits and thoughts of the xenos known as the ork. Her new teacher, Tauramacchis Ossian, or by his given role: lector, or Warden, taught Ninety-Nine of the orks and their behaviors. While the lessons took time, she managed to learn and quickly deduce or predict an ork’s attack behavior, not that their way of combat was complicated.
The orks themselves hardly provided a challenge, they exploded with a meager punch, swipe or tail slice. The physical trials only resulted in her getting a heavy antifungal bath that smelled and tasted awful. The quiet days in the Watch Fortress Erioch reminded her of home, where Chaplain Gabriel and her other battle masters would be in.
“What are the orks doing that need recocknissence?”
“Reconnaissance.”
“Right. Reconnaissance.” Ninety-Nine said.
Tauramacchis showed images from the pict-screen powered by a large and bulky cogitator. Devastation of various worlds and sorrow showed unsparingly.
“There has been an ork wagh gathering from two tribes that defeated a splinter fleet.” Tauramacchis said.
“Woah… Who won?”
“We do not know and it does not matter. What matters is that they will be arriving in Jericho Reach and we must stop them. You will be the key to stopping them.”
Ninety-Nine read over the lessons, the ork’s clan was known as…

>Evil Sunz
>Bad Moons
>Snake Bites
>Blood Axes
>Deathskulls
>>6256015>>Snake Bitesi want to eat a squigoth

Ninety-Nine read over the lessons, the ork’s clan was known as… Deathskulls, a band of looting and stealing orks that are mad engineers that can construct terrible things. Ninety-Nine pressed her claw to the button on the board, the cogitator showed the next set of information of the Deathskulls.
“Hmm…”
Ninety-Nine balanced the metal quill on her index finger as he squinted to read the smaller text of the book. Chaplain Gabriel knew where she was, and has informed the chaplain in this watch fortress that Ninety-Nine could be trusted, she hoped that her message of appreciation was received through the strange astropath she met.
“Bored…”
Ninety-Nine looked around her new room. Solid ceramite walls, a firm bed with blankets, a table and chair that accommodate her size, and even a footlocker for her belongings. This was her room, hers, and she could explore if she wanted to, the custodian said so. Ninety-Nine leaned back on her seat, oh yes, she was moving up in the world.
Still, she wondered where Hive-Father was.
Was he sick? Hurt? Missing her?
Probably not. Maybe he would once she killed a lot of xenos. Until then, she resolved herself to work hard. Boredom gnawed at her.

>>6257020>She went to the cafeteriaWhen isn't she hungry?
She went to the cafeteria, upon arrival in her hooded red robe, no astartes did not gazed at her. Ninety-Nine nervously walked between the rows of table. Ninety-Nine no longer had to look up, well, not all the way. She moved without any astartes stopping her, through the self-serve buffet line and to the table. Ninety-Nine sat on the ceramite seat welded to the table and picked up her utensils.
“Huh…”
The various astartes quietly ate their meals. Small sounds of clanking utensils and soft clicks of machineries bounced off the metal walls. Ninety-Nine scooped up the large bowl of gray gelatin then daintily brought the spoon in her mouth. The flavorless nutrient gel filled her stomach, but her tongue yearned for flavor. Maybe even a Tau would do good. Ninety-Nine placed the plate back and continued her exploration.
A strange force guided her, a tug that she could not exactly describe.
Hours passed in her wandering. Her hunting instinct tickled her skin underneath the exoskeleton. After another door, she saw human serfs wandering the halls. They paused, then ran, screaming about a loose xeno. Ninety-Nine looked behind her, then realized this was about her. She sighed. Soon, an astartes arrived.
“Chaplain Gabriel?”
The chaplain shook his head. “I am not Gabriel. I am Zadkiel, Gabriel’s teacher.”
A wave of shoulder length blonde hair spilled from the helmet.
“What brings you here?”
“I don’t know… Something was guiding me.”
“Did it now.” Zadkiel said. “Lead me to it.

Ninety-Nine and Chaplain Zadkiel arrived at the Hunting Grounds. Through a side hallway, Ninety-Nine arrived at an observatory floor. Hundreds of cogitator showed different cameras of all kinds of environments. Her tail swished. So much to explore, so much to hunt, some astartes were already using the grounds. Servitors repeated the orders, temperature, and the types of xenos being hunted.
“Your body seeks to hunt.” Chaplain Zadkiel said. “No one new knows of this place, The Emperor must have guided you, as he did in the other world.”
Zadkiel stared at the cogitator screens.
“The worlds of Jericho Reach are wide and varies in biomes. The one closest however…” Zadkiel pressed a set of buttons.
The screen of all cogitators depicted the environment into one giant picture. Thick trees stood above the murky waters where moss and various plants floated above. Delicious looking serpents swam or coiled around the trees. Scaly rodents jumped from moss beds to moss beds. Slimy four legged creature with flat tails made a home made of sticks.
“They look mushy.”
“The world of Shrehk will be the next target. I will have you train here. Follow the servitor and you will be guided to the hunting ground.”
“Will I get to hunt?”
“You will.”
“Can I eat it?”
“No.”
Ninety-Nine followed the servitor and arrived at the swamp area. Her feet touched the cold and wet water. She shivered at the strange sensation of water and mud sloshing as she moved. She raised her tail and hit the water, splattering the muddy water everywhere. Ninety-Nine giggled and splashed some more.
“Focus. This is training, not entertainment, do so again and you will be punished.” Zadkiel said through the intercom. “Hunt.”

Ninety-Nine stalked through the trees and in the waters then jumped tree to tree and searched for her prey. At least… Her first attempt went as such with poor results. Branches snapped under Ninety-Nine’s dense weight. She tried again, this time one a thicker branch. Ninety-Nine crouched on a branch.
“No no no!”
The wood crackled, then snapped. Ninety-Nine landed face first into the swamp. She stood up, water trickled from the edges of her exoskeleton. She raised her tail then slapped the water as she let out a frustrated groan.
“Ggha! Stupid trees! Stupid waters! Feth!”
She heard many words from her time with the guardsmen, she knew they were bad words due to how the sisters reacted sometimes. The guardsmen injured at the tent said those words, her shoulders drooped, she wondered if they were well. She wished she could have stayed till the offensive was over, maybe even celebrate with Tobias… But, The Emperor has sent her here against new enemies, she needed to be strong, so less people could die.
“Ok… Let’s do this.”
Ninety-Nine learned after fifteen times of being dunked into the water that she was heavy. Instead, Ninety-Nine sank her claws to the thicker trees and stuck to the trunks. Whatever her prey was, it would live for now. Ninety-Nine kept her determination strong, for no other reason than for the next guardsmen and people she would have to save.
Hours turned into days, turned to weeks, and a month.
In the waters, her body adapted to hold her breath longer and eyes were covered in special mucus to see. She found her own unique way of identifying which tree to climb and her own method to do so. Night became easier to see, her senses attuned to the wetlands, and she learned to move softer. Bit by bit, she not only adapted, but thrived and caught many dangerous prey set forth by the chaplain.
There was a strange… Satisfaction, in overcoming and adapting. An instinctive joy.
