[isekai, school, romance, harem]

Your new bedroom is massive, bigger than your entire old apartment. The bed is huge, draped with thick blankets that look like they’ve never been touched. At the foot of the bed, there’s a big chest, perfect for storing your personal items. Heavy, dark curtains block out most of the sunlight, and the air feels stale and musty, as if the room hasn’t been aired in years. A chandelier hangs from the ceiling, glinting faintly in the low light.

You sit on the edge of the bed, staring at your reflection in the mirror across the room. You’ve heard about boys who complain about being stuck in the friend zone, but for you, that sounds like paradise. You’ve never even been close to that. Girls just insult you, call you ugly, and laugh when you try to talk.

You hear footsteps behind you, and your stepmother pushes open the door without knocking. She’s wearing a black tailored dress, her hair pulled back in a tight bun. She doesn’t bother to hide the disdain in her eyes as she looks you up and down.

"Still sitting around? Unpacking would be a good start," she says, her tone sharp. "You should be grateful you're even allowed to live here." You nod, not wanting to provoke her. She lingers for a moment longer, clearly about to say something else, then just shakes her head and walks away, muttering something under her breath.

You slump back onto the bed. This mansion is supposed to be a new beginning, but it feels more like a prison. After your father’s sudden death, your stepmother quickly abandoned the small apartment she hated and moved into his family’s mansion, claiming she deserves better. Now you’re stuck here with her and your stepsister in a city you don’t know. Your father had cut ties with his wealthy family years ago, and you grew up poor. Now, trapped in this mansion, surrounded by old money and family secrets, you feel like an intruder.

A faint buzz disrupts your thoughts. You check your phone to find a message from one of your old classmates. "Heard you finally moved out. Good riddance, loser." You don’t respond. You’re used to this by now, the kind of cruelty that never stopped back in school. For now, you unpack your suitcase, trying to ignore the knot in your stomach.

Monolith
Monolith
md5: a7e1c6883516818dc77ffdef630c0826🔍
[b]Turn 1[/b]

While searching for an extra chest to store your growing collection, you decide to explore the basement, a dusty, neglected space. As you carefully move aside a pile of old boxes, you discover a secret door with a staircase behind it. With some apprehension, you descend the steps and find a narrow tunnel. A black monolith stands at the entrance, with an ethereal, glowing blue handprint that seems to beckon you forward. Compelled, you place your palm on the handprint and close your eyes.

You feel ancient power surge through your body, dark and corrupting yet exhilarating. A semi-transparent blue screen materializes before your eyes.

[blue]Rare class obtained: Hell Mage[/blue]

Class abilities:
>Instant Death: If you look into a living creature’s eyes and pronounce the word “Shine!” (死ね), they will instantly die.
>Remote Death: If you write a living creature's true name in your spellbook, they will die in a horrific manner.
>Brainwashing: If you concentrate and give an order to a living creature, they may feel compelled to obey.
>Succubus Summoning: By sacrificing a living creature, you can summon a succubus directly from Hell (1/month).

It’s a system screen, exactly like described in the web novels you like to read. Yet, despite the gravity of what just happened, a strange calm settles over you. Maybe this is the kind of power you’ve been yearning for. Another notification appears.

[blue]Class weapon obtained: spellbook[/b]

You glance down and notice an old, withered book lying at your feet. The cover is cracked and darkened, unmistakably bound in human leather. You pick it up cautiously, running your fingers across the surface. Then you take a look around. The basement seems extensive, and the tunnel stretches into the darkness. You don’t know what mysteries or horrors lie further.

Intuition: You feel the basement is a very dangerous place.

Behind the monolith, an iron portal frame suddenly hums to life, glowing with the same blue light, and at the same time, another screen pops up.

[blue]Title obtained: Master of the Portal[/blue]

>Master of the Portal: Only the current master of the portal and the members of his party can travel through it.

>Explore the basement further

You keep moving through the tunnel, your footsteps echoing faintly in the silence. Soon, you come upon an archway carved with strange, glowing runes. As you pass through it, another system screen materializes in front of you.

"Title obtained: Master of the Dungeon"

>Master of the Dungeon: Only the current master of the dungeon and the members of his party can pass through the archway.

Beyond the arch, another staircase leads further down. The stone steps are coated with a faintly glowing phosphorescent fungus, just bright enough to see your immediate surroundings, but not enough to see clearly. It’s still better than your phone’s weak light, which you switch off to save battery. How far does this basement go under Tokyo? At the bottom of the stairs, you find a corridor of smooth stone stretching left and right.

Something about the left side unsettles you, an almost imperceptible change in the darkness that feels oppressive. You decide to turn right instead and find yourself in a large, empty room. The air feels thick and slightly damp, smelling of mold and old wood. A slightly rotten wooden ladder leans against the east wall, and a grinding noise fills the space, though you can’t tell if it’s mechanical or not. There are four doors. One on your right, made of stone, firmly stuck despite your efforts to push it open with all your weight. Two wooden doors in front of you, one locked, while the other swings open with ease. Another wooden door on your left, locked too. You look around, hoping to spot a mouse to sacrifice for summoning a succubus, but find nothing. If not for the system message, you’d think it was just a typical basement room, except for the unusual number of doors. But you know better. This is a dungeon, and it’s yours alone.

You press your ear against the unlocked door in front and hear clumsy footsteps and the sound of someone clearing their throat. There must be some kind of creature behind it. From what you know about dungeons, there should be plenty of monsters, traps, and treasures ahead. High risk, high reward. In fact, just touching the door handles could have been a deadly mistake if they had been trapped.

Intuition: Your pulse quickens. You feel you’re about to die.

You follow the corridor nervously, trying your best to move quietly. But as the grinding noise fades behind you, each step seems to echo louder than the last. You take two left turns and find yourself in a rectangular room, a bit smaller than the previous one.

Suddenly, you hear hurried, clumsy footsteps approaching, with the distinct sound of claws scraping against the stone floor. In the dim light from the phosphorescent fungus, a silhouette moves quickly toward you, making strange, guttural noises.

As it comes closer, you get a better look. It’s a humanoid creature, but definitely not human. It’s tall, with muscular arms, squat legs, and clawed hands. Its eyes are white and without pupils, giving it a ghostly, unnatural look. The creature is wearing a leather armor, and as it steps into the light, you notice its mouth and throat are smeared with something wet. Blood, most likely. The creature’s stench reeks of death, so foul it makes your stomach turn.

See picture: it’s an accurate depiction of the creature.

Its intentions, you’re certain, are entirely hostile. Your heart pounds in your chest. You’ve been bullied, beaten, even had your head shoved into toilets, but never have you faced something that could actually kill you. You’ve never faced a threat like this.

You have about a second to react before it reaches you.

You don’t have time to think. The creature is almost on you now, and you get a better look at its features. It’s a reptilian humanoid, with a jaw that’s completely rotten, like something straight out of a zombie movie. You realize it’s not alive at all; it’s been dead for a long time. Using the "Instant Death" power probably wouldn’t work on something already dead. Still, driven by pure panic, you shout, "Shine!" hoping for a miracle...

...And nothing happens. The creature doesn’t even slow down. It twists its body and swings one of its massive arms at you, claws aimed right at your face. You react on instinct, stepping back just in time to avoid the strike. Your hands are shaking. You’ve never been this close to death before.

Without looking back, you sprint the way you came, lungs burning from the effort. Even though it’s a short distance, your weight makes it feel almost impossible. When you finally reach the archway, you stop to catch your breath. You look around. Nothing. The creature didn’t follow. According to the system message, nothing can cross the archway behind you, so you should be safe.

In the web novels you read, zombie bites, or even scratches, are often fatal and can turn victims into zombies. That creature was dangerous. If a zombie plague spread outside the dungeon, it could threaten the entire world. Why is there such dungeon under your home?

Feeling drained and starving after the rush of adrenaline, you slowly make your way to the dining room. As you enter, the maid, Rina, greets you with a bow.

"Kenta-sama, what would you like to eat for dinner?"

"No need to make him anything," your stepmother interrupts. "That would be a waste of food. He can have Taniko’s leftovers when she’s done eating."

You don’t dare go against your stepmother’s words. When she gets angry, the punishment is always harsh. You’ve learned to act obedient and respectful around her: it’s just safer that way. Still, there’s a small upside to eating Taniko’s leftovers: an indirect kiss. The food will have a bit of her saliva on it. Often, when she’s studying at night, you lie in bed thinking about her. She’s beautiful, after all. And, being honest with yourself, you’d probably still want to fuck her even if she wasn’t. You’re a pervert, you know that, and you would fuck any woman.

Of course, just eating leftovers isn’t enough to fill you up. You’ll have to eat snacks later. Your usual diet consists of whatever scraps you can get, Teriyaki McBurgers, and cheap, high-calorie junk food. Not healthy, but it’s what you can manage. Taniko pushes her plate toward you. She’s a light eater and has barely touched half of her rice and katsu chicken.

"I’m done eating," she says, not even looking at you.

"Taniko's leftovers....indirect kiss....Taniko's saliva...." you mumble without thinking.

"What the fuck!" she blurts out, turning to look at you with a mix of surprise and disgust.

You freeze, realizing what you just said out loud. At least she looked at you, though. It’s the first time you’ve ever spoken so boldly. Maybe it’s the adrenaline from everything that happened in the basement. Normally, you’d just bow and thank her. Your face heats up, and your heart races. Acting like that takes confidence, something you definitely don’t have. You’ve just made a fool of yourself in front of a beautiful girl.

Saitama Toranosuke is your high school bully. Tall and always wearing sunglasses, even indoors, he is your worst nightmare. He and his friends constantly mocked you, and he made you buy strawberry milk for him every day. He beat you up more than once and even shoved your head into a toilet. He once said that whenever his father beat him, he would take out his anger on you.

You focus on your power. It’s hard to put into words because it’s more of an abstract feeling. You’re tapping into the same energy you felt from the monolith in the basement. The world around you seems to shift: colors become a little brighter, and everything feels more vivid. You know this sensation means the magic is flowing through you.

"You must have heard me wrong, just forget about it."

Taniko’s expression goes blank, her eyes unfocused. "Heard what?" she replies mechanically, as if hypnotized. Her blank stare reminds you of the zombie in the basement dungeon. Not fully alive, not fully dead.

Without warning, she picks up your food and and lets a thin string of saliva drip into it. You didn’t command her to do it, but it seems the brainwashing made her more compliant to your desires. Afterward, her expression returns to normal. She turns away and leaves the room as if nothing happened. It would’ve been better if she had done it out of her own will, but still, it’s an indirect kiss.

***

It’s late evening now. You ended up snacking on potato chips to make up for the lost calories. You still haven’t found an extra chest to store your figure collection, and you haven’t properly tested your new powers yet. You know that Instant Death doesn’t work on zombies, but there’s still so much more to learn. Your thoughts drift back to the strange portal behind the monolith. You’ve been thinking about it since earlier. It feels pointless to earn the title Master of the Portal and then not even check it out.

But tomorrow is your first day at your new school. If you stay up too late, you’ll end up tired and drained, which wouldn’t help you make a good impression.

You open the spellbook and flip through the pages, but they’re all blank. No introduction, no instructions, nothing. You grab a ballpoint pen and carefully write Saitama Toranosuke's name in kanji: 埼玉虎之助. In case someone else has the same name, you also picture his face while writing. You’re not sure if it helps, but you definitely want to kill Saitama Toranosuke, your high school bully, not some random guy with the same name. After writing his name, you wait for a moment, but nothing happens. No blue screen appears to confirm the spell worked. Since it’s a remote power, you have no way to know if it succeeded. You’ll have to check tomorrow’s news to see if there’s a report of his death.

***

The next morning is your first day at your new school. Rina introduces you and Taniko to her father, Eishi, who works as the mansion’s butler, gardener, and chauffeur. Ah, yes. Taniko is going to the same school as you, and will even be in your class.

Eishi drives a black sedan out of the garage and takes you to school. On the way, he explains a bit. Yesterday, he handled the arrangements for your enrollment. You’re going to the "American School in Japan" (ASIJ), located on the western side of Tokyo, not far from the mansion. He mentions that it’s the same school your father attended when he was your age, which surprises you. Your father never spoke much about his childhood, just that he’d become estranged from your grandfather.

ASIJ is an elite private international school, and your tuition has been covered by the family estate. The school’s primary language is English. The teachers have been informed that your English skills are poor, but they expect you to catch up quickly.

You walk onto the beautiful 114-acre campus, which looks modern and well-maintained. Taniko walks beside you silently. At the center of the campus, there’s an open courtyard surrounded by curved buildings with terraced gardens. Around two-thirds of the students are foreigners from all over the world. Are you even in Japan anymore? There’s no standard uniform, but everyone dresses neatly and they all look generally attractive. You feel nervous. Going from the thrash high school where you got bullied every day to such a prestigious place is a huge change. If you can survive this, you’ll get one of the best educations in the world.

What will you do?

"Hello all," you stutter. "My name is Suzuki Kenta. Nice to meet you."

You’ve chosen to introduce yourself in English, hoping it’ll show your positive attitude to both the teacher and your classmates. After bowing, you walk toward your assigned seat at the back, next to the window.

As expected, the class itself is completely incomprehensible. You’ve studied English a little, enough to greet someone or ask for directions, but following a real class is way beyond your current level. You try to stay calm and absorb what little you can, and try not to fall asleep.

You glance at Taniko. She's sitting in the middle row, posture perfect, eyes on the teacher, taking notes. Maybe you can ask her to tutor you in the evening.

At lunch, two students approach you. One foreigner, the other Japanese. Both are tall, fit, and confident. The Japanese student speaks first.

"So, Suzuki-san. How did you get into this school? You don’t really look like you’re from a rich family. Maybe you’re a top student?"

Technically, your family is wealthy, and you live in a mansion with a maid and a butler. But looking at you today, no one would guess it. You’re in an old tracksuit and worn sneakers, the only clothes you feel comfortable in. You’re not dressed for this crowd, that’s for sure. As for your grades, they have always been average.

Still, this question feels loaded. You can’t tell if these two are being friendly, or probing for weakness. At your old trash school, a question like this would be the opening move to bullying. But this is an elite environment, and maybe elite students follow different rules.

What will you do?

You answer, "No, I have average grades. And my family is wealthy, but my stepmother doesn’t let me have anything."

"So, let me get this straight. You’re not good at sports, your grades are average, and there’s no one looking out for you?"

You nod. "That’s correct. I don’t have a great background. I’m in your hands now."

He smirks, then glances at the foreigner. Suddenly, the foreigner steps forward and drives a fist into your stomach. A clean hit, full force. The pain is sharp and immediate. You’ve been punched like this before, plenty of times, but your body has never learned to handle it. Maybe if you had abs, it would hurt less.

While you’re bent over, the Japanese student unzips your backpack and pulls out your bento box. Rina made it this morning, carefully arranged with several small dishes: tamago, sausages, pickled vegetables, even a little onigiri. It was the first time anyone made something like that just for you and you were looking forward to it.

"I’m Tomoya," he says, then gestures to the foreigner. "And this is Winston. From now on, you’re our punching bag. Also, this looks good. Make sure to bring one like it every day."

Behind him, a girl laughs. "The new student is a total loser."

She said it in English, but you understood every word. You glance at her. Her name is Nikki; earlier, you overheard it in passing. She’s tall, slim, almost model-like, with light hair and striking blue eyes. The kind of girl who’d never look at someone like you, unless it was to laugh.

Your stomach growls. Because of your [Pig] weakness, skipping lunch puts you at serious risk. You feel lightheaded already. If you don’t eat something soon, you risk fainting.

You remember all the humiliation from your old trash school. You were bullied every day, never once standing up for yourself. But this time, you want things to be different. You’re not the same loser anymore. Now, you’re someone who can kill others just by writing their name in a spellbook.

Rage builds inside you. It spreads through your whole body like fire, and before you realize it, you’ve lost control. You charge at Winston like a wild pig, with all your weight thrown into it, hoping to knock him down with sheer force. But it’s useless. He shifts his stance and smoothly dodges you. His counterattack is instant. A roundhouse kick to your face. You hit the ground. Before you can get up, the two of them kick you again and again, in the ribs, stomach, head, until everything fades to black.

***

When you open your eyes, everything is blurry and white. You’re lying on a bed. Sitting beside you is a dark-skinned student.

"Hey. Are you awake, Kenta? I’m Ilesh. I’m in your class."

You recognize him. You vaguely remember seeing him earlier today. You mumble, "Where am I?"

"The infirmary. You fought Tomoya and Winston. It was kind of epic… well, for about two seconds. But they destroyed you. No one can win against them. They’re both champions in shotokan karate and kendo."

You look around. The room is white, sterile, with bright lights. Everything’s hazy. "Fuck. I lost."

***

Later that afternoon, Eishi, the butler, drives you back home. The school nurse discharged you, but warned that you have a mild concussion. You've never been beaten this bad before.

In the evening, Rina knocks on your door, then enters with a guest. A young woman in a dark blue uniform, with a serious expression.

"Hello," she says. "I’m Officer Abe Miyu, Tokyo Metropolitan Police. I’m investigating the death of Saitama Toranosuke."

You try to act surprised. "Toranosuke-kun is dead?"

"Yes. My condolences. According to his teachers, you and him were friends. I’m here to ask if you know anything that might help."

Friends? That’s ridiculous. He bullied you every day. He shoved your head in toilets and made you buy strawberry milk. How could anyone think you were friends? But one thing is clear: he’s dead. Remote Death worked.

She continues, "The detectives suspect a link to a doomsday cult."

What will you answer?

Officer Abe Miyu raises an eyebrow, pausing for a moment as if studying your face. "I see. I wonder what made the teachers think you two were close."

You swallow hard. This might be a problem. It’ll show up as an anomaly in their investigation, something that doesn’t quite fit. Thinking back, you realize bringing him strawberry milk every day might have looked like a sign of friendship, at least from an outsider’s point of view.

"Who knows," you say, managing to keep your voice even. "I wish I could help more."

She nods, writes something in her notebook, then stands. "That’s all for now. Thank you for your time." She leaves without another word.

>Study: Connected to the library. There’s a heavy oak desk with an oil lamp and an open diary on top. There’s a locked drawer in the desk. A portrait of your grandfather watching silently.
>Master's Bedroom: Draped in red silk, with a tall canopy bed and a locked chest at the foot. The scent of expensive perfume lingers.
>Taniko’s Bedroom: Neat and plain, with a bookshelf, mirror, and a schoolbag on the floor. A plush rabbit sits on the bed.
>Female Bedrooms: Luxurious rooms with soft beds, bright pillows, and drawers full of clothes and jewelry.
>Baths: Wide marble pools. Mosaic tiles show mythical beasts. You spot some herbs and oils near the edges.
>Servant Quarters: Rows of simple bunk beds, a small wooden table with playing cards. A worn toolbox sits beneath a bench.
>Trophy Room: Walls lined with strange animal heads. One skull has a long snout and twisted horns. Swords, shields, and other weapons on racks. One display case holds a claw in a glass jar.
>Observatory: A round room under a glass dome. A telescope points at unknown stars, surrounded by dusty parchment maps and half-drawn star charts.
>Park: A large area with flower gardens. An old fountain covered in ivy glows faintly at night. Coins lie in the basin.
>Basement: A dark maze of tunnels and rooms. You’ve only explored part of it. The monolith and the portal are still there.

While everyone is downstairs, you decide to sneak into Taniko’s bedroom. To your surprise, her room is almost identical to yours >>6242249. You walk slowly inside, running your hand over the bed, then over her stuffed rabbit. You lift the plush toy, and press a soft kiss to its forehead. If she kisses it too, maybe it will be another indirect kiss between the two of you.

You open a few drawers and peek inside her school bag, but there’s nothing there except schoolwork and notes. It's a short search. Your concussion makes it hard to focus.

After that, you head further into the female quarters. These rooms are more luxurious, clearly designed to house multiple women. You wonder, was your grandfather the kind of man to keep a harem? Or maybe the nobleman before him. There’s an odd atmosphere to this whole mansion. A pattern you’re just beginning to notice, but can’t fully grasp. With your mind still foggy, you can’t quite piece it together. You open a few closets, but find nothing important.

Tired and dizzy, you return to your bedroom. You open your computer and search for any new updates about the death of Saitama Toranosuke >>6243988. There’s a short article. The report mentions a "ritualistic killing" and an "ongoing investigation." No further details. You think back to Officer Abe’s mention of a "doomsday cult." Clearly, the police are treating this seriously.

Then, something much worse.

Interpretation: someone is spreading lies about your past

You stumble upon an anonymous blog. Your name is in the title and it includes a photo of you at your old school, with your pants pulled down, humiliated, surrounded by laughing students. You remember that moment. One of your lowest. The bullies had forced you to "model" for everyone in front of the class, and one of the girls took the picture.

Below the photo, the post reads:

"Now that Saitama Toranosuke is dead, who will fuck Suzuki Kenta’s fat butt?"

You stare at the screen. Someone is spreading lies about you.

Abe Miyu had given you her card with contact information, so you call the number printed on it. Your voice is a little panicked.

"Kenta-kun?" she answers. "Do you have information about the case?"

"No, it’s something else."

She sighs. "It’s late, you know."

"I know. I’m sorry. I’m being bullied online. It’s serious, and I didn’t know who else to turn to."

Another pause. "Fine. You may come to my place."

You go find Eishi and ask if he can drive you. Without hesitation, he nods, brings the black sedan out of the garage, and opens the door for you.

As you settle into the back seat, you say, "Eishi-san, I’m sorry for making you work you this late. It’s kind of an emergency."

"Young master, it’s my pride as an elite butler to complete every mission I’m given. I’m always on duty, except during my yearly vacation."

The drive is quiet and short. You arrive at Abe Miyu’s apartment in Minato City. The building is older, with yellow tile walls and a narrow entrance. You take the elevator up to the first floor.

She opens the door and hands you slippers, as if you were an ordinary guest. You examine her for a second. She’s dressed in soft red pajamas with a flower pattern. She looks more like a college girl than an officer. Maybe 18 or 19. Petite, and with a gentle smile that makes her look even younger. Despite her cute appearance, you’re not at ease. She’s part of the investigation and you're the murderer. One wrong word, and things could go badly.

While you're still thinking, she’s already seated at her desk. She pulls up the blog, clicks through the post, and frowns.

"Kenta-kun, this is horrible. You were a victim of bullying, weren’t you?"

"Yes. They made me undress. If I refused, they would have beaten me up."

Her tone sharpens slightly. "Was Saitama Toranosuke one of them?"

Yes. He was the worst one. In fact, it was his idea to humiliate you like that. You hesitate. How much will you say?

You tell her everything about the bullying incident, but you leave out that it was Toranosuke’s idea. You feel more comfortable that way. It’s not a full lie, but it hides the worst part of your history with him.

She nods slowly, then turns to her computer. "Now, watch. I’ll find out who the cyberbully is. Almost no one is really anonymous online. I’ll show you."

She copies the blog’s username into a search engine and explains while typing. "Most people reuse the same name on multiple websites. That gives us a trail across different sites, and sometimes even social media."

She spends a few minutes digging through pages and cross-referencing names. Then she frowns. "Strange. This person has no online presence at all. That usually means they don’t use the internet much. Or they’re being careful."

"Ah... So there’s nothing we can do?"

"It’s okay. I saved everything and will forward it to the Cyber Affairs bureau. They can trace the IP address and find out who posted it. I have your number, so I’ll let you know when we find anything."

She looks at you again. "Your face is bruised. Did you get in a fight?"

You explain about your new school, the two bullies, and how you got a concussion.

"Well," she says, "it’s good that you fought back. They might think twice next time. You should take the week off to heal. And if you want, I could teach you some basic self-defense."

"Thank you. I really appreciate your help."

She smiles. "It’s nothing. It sounds like a lot of people are giving you a hard time. It’s not right. I want to help make things better."

After drinking a Coke, you thank her again and head back to the car. Eishi is waiting, and silently drives you home. On the ride back, her words linger in your mind. You’ve spent most of your life surrounded by cruelty, but maybe not everyone is like that.

The next day, you spend the entire time resting, just like Officer Abe Miyu advised. The only thing you do is gently dust your anime figures with a makeup brush. Your head still aches a little, but you can tell you’re slowly getting better.

By Wednesday, you decide it’s time. You make your way down to the basement, stopping in front of the glowing blue portal. The light pulses gently, almost like it’s alive. You take a deep breath, and step through. The other side is a narrow tunnel, almost identical to the one you came from. As soon as you arrive, a blue screen pops up:

"Title obtained: Otherworlder"

> Otherworlder: Learn magical skills at a faster rate.

You open your status window. Your titles now read: "Loser, Pig, Master of the Portal, Master of the Dungeon, Otherworlder." You frown slightly at the first two. They don’t give you any powers, just insults, but the other three, you know they are rare and powerful.

You follow the tunnel until you arrive in what looks like another basement, old, dusty, thick with cobwebs. The air smells faintly of mold. It looks similar to your mansion’s basement, but it has a more abandoned, forgotten atmosphere.

You climb the creaky wooden stairs and step into the hallway. It’s quiet, abandoned, your footsteps leaving prints in the thick dust. No one’s been here in years. If this house belongs to you, you already have ideas. For instance, you could turn one of the rooms into a private museum to showcase your collection.

You push open the door to a nearby room. It’s full of broken furniture. You walk to the window and force it open, letting fresh air rush in. Outside, you see a park overtaken by wild plants and tall pine trees.

You step outside. The sun is warm on your skin. The house itself looks about the same size as the one on Earth. But once you look past the gate, the difference is obvious. The street is paved with stone, and the houses nearby have a medieval, European style, with wooden beams and stone walls. You really are in another world.

You consider heading back to rest. However, you wonder if there’s a good restaurant nearby that serves strange, exotic food. As an explorer, you know what your duty is: to taste everything. You remember reading about Charles Darwin eating every new animal he found. That’s what a real explorer does. You might need local money, though.

What will you do?

You step past the gate, and a blue screen appears in front of you, reading:

"Warning! You have left the protection force field."

So, the otherworld mansion is protected by some kind of magical barrier. That’s useful to know. You walk down the street, but you don’t plan to go far. With your weight, even a short stroll leaves you winded.

A few locals pass by, dressed in rough cloaks and tunics. But the most surprising part is that some of them aren’t fully human. Beastfolk, half-animal, half-human, walk the streets like it’s normal. They look like costumes at first, but their movements are too natural. Even their tails sway naturally. Also, everyone around you is speaking English. You would’ve preferred your native language, but at least it’s not something completely alien.

As you turn a corner, a small human boy bumps into you and falls to the ground. He’s wearing an old, torn cloak, and looks like a beggar. His face is dirty, and he starts crying.

You tense up, afraid of drawing attention. "Calm down," you say.

"Please, mister, I’m hungry. Do you have food?"

"No, I don’t. You should go."

Your English isn’t perfect, but it’s enough to hold the conversation. You keep walking, hoping he’ll leave. But he follows close behind.

"Mister, I know you have food. Please, just a little."

You pick up the pace. You don’t have food. You don’t have gold. You’re only out here to get a feel for this place. You didn’t come to babysit and this is starting to get annoying.

Suddenly, a voice cuts through the air. "There he is! Capture him!"

You turn and see a man in leather armor running toward the boy. The child kicks and pulls, but he’s not strong enough to break free. Behind the soldier, a fat man in silk robes barks more orders.

"Mister!" the boy cries. "Please help me!"

The soldier doesn’t reply. He keeps his grip on the boy and says nothing. It’s the fat man in silk robes who steps forward instead, looking you up and down. Then he walks closer with a confident smile.

"Good sir, I’m the merchant Ivano Golini. What マグニフィセント ガーメンツ you are wearing. It’s the finest silk I’ve ever seen."

You don’t catch everything, but it seems he’s impressed by your cheap tracksuit. It’s cheap where you come from, but here, it must look exotic and expensive.

I'm using katakana to obscure the English words and reflect how you perceive them.

"Sir, thank you," you reply. “You are beautiful too.”

He lets out a pleased chuckle. "Business has been good lately, indeed. But I’m not on your level." He pauses. "This slave might not look like much, but he’s Baron Blackham’s favorite. It’s good you helped us catch him. It would have been a ディザースター if we had lost him. I tell you what. If you visit my shop, I will give you a small ディスカウント."

You bow politely. You’re not entirely sure what he said, but it sounds like you’ve earned some kind of reward.

"Sir, what's the name of your shop?"

He hands you a business card. The letters are unfamiliar, written in an elegant, golden script that looks nothing like any alphabet you’ve ever seen. The people here speak English, but their written language is clearly something different.

"My shop is called the Golden セラーリオー. I look forward to your visit.”

With that, he bows politely and walks away with the soldier and the boy, who is still struggling. They disappear down a narrow alley.

What will you do?
