it's not like warhammer 40k and it spans multiple galaxies and muh le multiverse

its utter nonsensical crap

I've never gotten the appeal of WH40K but everywhere I look other people are familiar with it. I just don't like it nor do I like D&D and it feels like I'm the only one who doesn't give a fuck about that stupid franchise. It's so ugly.

Multiverse BS is a sign a media franchise has hit creative bankruptcy and is scraping the bottom of the barrel for literally anything original. Marvel, DC, Dr Who, DND, Magic, even fucking Gundam, they are all guilty of it.
Of course, you can enjoy it regardless of that I suppose but I think it is extremely unenjoyable and a sign of extremely poor writing.

For me, I prefer historical fiction media or things similar to it. For example, I play vidya like Kingdom Come Deliverance or Mount and Blade because it is more believable and doesn't rely on bullshit like magic, time travel, multiverses, etc, to entertain me.

What detracts from the experience for me is that multiverse stuff can just wipe clean everything that has already happened. A normal story can do that ofcourse, but a multiverse setting in a franchise that intends to keep going indefinitely almost always ensures the twists will keep coming indefinitely.
