This is going to be distressing to you but they actually, genuinely, not larping or faking it for any kind of ulterior reason, enjoy the company of other people. They find talking to each other about essentially anything more enjoyable than being alone. They prefer drinking in the company of others to getting plastered on their couch by themselves. They prefer to do other activities like having meals or watching movies in the company of others as well - the presence of other people actually increases their enjoyment of these things. I understand this is extremely contrary to your personal experience, and to mine as well, but it is the truth.
