nothing has made me more of a doomer than watching AI progress to the point that you can now generate a fake news scene thats becoming increasingly harder to notice, and the fact that literally ones fucking talking about it at all. not even a public discourse of "hey this is happening really fast how are we going to handle the flow of information as a society with this" on social medias just fucking NOTHING.

Why would that bother you?
Someone could always make up news stories even before AI existed.
Eventually people realize what the truth is because there's more than one source out there people can check to see if other sources are bullshit or not.

theres a difference between someone making shit up like the onion or infowars schizo shit, and the informational pipe bomb that is AI. i dont know if youre an american, but for the past 10 years theres been a growing number of people who dont question whats put in front of them if it sounds real enough to them. hell there are people who now depend on chatgpt for most of their information over google. our president told people to go inject themselves with bleach and horse dewormer and the morons did it. now think of all the lies, deception, and misinformation that generative AI can produce to create entire worlds that dont exist in the minds of people who wouldnt think twice about what theyre being fed. im not some anti AI schizo i just think that its pretty scary in our current social climate, and i cant understand why theres no one who seems to have entertained the same thought.

Stop using the word 'literally', it's interfering with your ability to communicate.

I think this might be a good thing. I'm also worried about how dumb everyone is. I had enough of an issue with people citing "google" as their source for facts. Now it's A.I.
And I have tested it out and it's shit. It's just another aggregator that isn't very refined at all yet. And there are people who think it's some infallible super intelligence or something.

As long as everything goes online unedited and without fact checking, "A.I." is going to just suck it in and add it to the pile. Why doesn't anyone seem to realize this?

So if the retards are going to further trust and invest in all this, maybe it'll help with the whole 'escalation' thing; hurrying to the end by whatever means necessary to bring about new beginnings. Whatever that's called, the fast tracking.

It's okay to be anti-A.I. We don't need it. It's going to do more harm than good. Have we really needed the tech advances we've seen in the last 30 years? I don't think so. I think we were better off in the 90s.

Nothing anyone does with A.I. is going to help benefit the masses. The 1% will get richer and we will lose more jobs.

And the stupid people you mention are going to drive all of it. They will willingly give away more of their freedom and privacy in exchange for cool new apps and other online bullshit like VR. They will vote against their economic best interests even more than before as they will be specifically targeted down to their very individual identity with the new ad tech to come. And they'll love it.

I foresee some kind of mass suicide event based on tech. There will be something that many, many people will believe once they can't tell reality from the virtual world. Give it 10 or 15 years into the whole Ready Player One world before something really nuts happens.
I will not be participating.

They do talk about it, but nobody gives a shit. In fact, retards on the internet were falling for fake news ('member that term?) left and right that didn't even need AYYYYYLMAOOOOEYYYYEEEEE to be """convincing""".

Go read Baudrillard and accept that media isn't real and hasn't been real for a long time. AI isn't any less fake than a "live" broadcast.

i at least would like to be hopeful that there will eventually be some sort of singularity where we as a society are forced to have a dialog about where we go from here. whether its AI generated content hitting a point of over saturation with entire social media profiles of people who dont exist, or billionaire companies realizing that AI will destroy their intellectual properties and backtracking on their shilling id like to think that we will be forced to have this discussion before it reaches a critical point and we end up in unironic Metal Gear/Deus ex territory
