I'm not 100% certain, but my hypothesis is that leftist culture (the dominant culture in America) so rabidly eviscerates anyone who makes the slightest step out of line that zoomers are socialized to constantly practice performative conformity. A 3 year age gap is perfectly normal between adults but there's just so much going on during adolescence and so much variation in maturity that it's not appropriate for a 16 year old to be with a 19 year old. When I was 16 all I cared about was jacking off and video games, at 19 I taught myself how to drive, was taking college courses, working part time, and volunteering on top of all that.

The hatred surrounding age gaps is entirely rooted in the belief that equality in status is something that should be pursued.
Age gaps imply a power imbalance in favor of the older party, as they have more time to acquire experience and develop their minds. This power imbalance negates the alleged equality that would otherwise be in place.

But we are not equal, and we never were equal. Sexual dimorphism is obvious and observable.
Women were born to be subordinate to men, and men were born in to be subordinate to men of higher status. Age gap relationships just make this fundamental difference clearer, and the f*minist hates this.
It was only until we started trying to give everyone the ability to vote that lies to the contrary came about.
Zoomers are the youngest adult generation and they have therefore been golemized by these f*minist lies the most.
They do not acknowledge the many judicial power imbalances in favor of women in both divorce and domestic disputes. They do not acknowledge schools and mass media grooming our youth of both sexes from birth.
They are fundamentally frame broken by the aforementioned belief in equality, and any discussion with them about these prior two oversights is pointless, because on their own they would imply you think these things are keeping them from this mythical equality.

Not advocating to break the law, all I'm going to say is people have this argument for 21 and 18 year olds hell even 25 and 22 year olds. The point is all that matters is if two people get along with eachother and are attracted to eachother for them to be a couple, literal opposites get together all the time and often its a plus because one usually has interests that can be shared with them. There's also people who have alot in common but just aren't attracted to eachother try forcing them to be together since they alot to say in terms of commonality they'd laugh in your face. Your issue is really power dynamics, and sorry to break it to you but there's a huge reason why women tend to find older men attractive and older men find younger women attractive for the vast majority of couples.
