>stuck with terrible 5G Internet
>it sucks for online games
>decide to borrow my neighbors WiFi
>it's the same 5G shit
>try different neighbors
>not successful
>pay people to help me
>successfully borrowed 2 more, but the connection is too poor to use even though it showed multiple connection bars
>buy better antennas to try to make it work
>it doesn't work

I used to sell this shit and whenever people asked if its good for gaming (or anything really) I'd lie and say that it works great. iirc the latency is too high for multiplayer gaming, even if your up/download speeds are high and have a good connection.

the bottleneck could be at many places

5G is faster, in theory low latency, and higher capacity. So quicker downloads, real-time communication, and support for more connected devices.
The theoretical range of 5G lies between 50Mbps up to 1-3Gbps.. So bottleneck anon is right, checking for bottlenecks is just as important.

it can work for most genres. the issue is more that it's unstable and you WILL sometimes start chugging for no reason. you should kys btw
>>81498533
>reason
Money / force of technological development. It really can be fast, but I think the providers intentionally throttle it

I've had terrible latency spikes completely unconditional to my setup where I have basically optimized the software on my router and pc as well as optimizing the placement/maintenance of the hardware. Nope. Every 20-30 minutes I'd get 3-5 minute spikes of 2000ping where I can't do fucking anything except grief my matches. I just quit multiplayer games for good after getting that shit everyday for the past 6 months before quitting. I bet this is my fucking ISP's fault, tangling their fucking borrowed from T1 cables under the ocean.
Now I'm just my internet for 4chan and downloading youtube shit for offline playback

I can only get 4g, and at times even that is spotty. Trying to watch a youtube video can be frustrating, or going to basically any site without blockers. I swear the internet these days just assume everyone has a terabit connection. I gave in and got starlink. Stupid expensive for ass speeds but that's the hidden cost of rural living. Local grocery store slices meat paper thin but charges more per pound even though it should be deeply discounted for being so shitty and thin. Lots of gas and miles. Very likely at some point to hit a deer or turkey and expensive repairs. Snow in winter so salty roads eat up the bottom. Insurance way higher. Pay is lower. Worth it to not have neighbors though. Or I guess they're still there but if you can't see or hear them it's fine. Very gossipy group. I guess when everyone is some of kin to each other that kills the dating scene so they just talk mad shit nonstop about whoever isn't in the room. Maybe it's more interesting if you grew up with them but it gets old fast.

Yup, sounds like a provider issue.
Sue them for breaking the contract condition and/or get your cash back.

Nah, they'll probably retaliate by planting server pull request to some child porn repository websites onto my IP address and report me to the police. Then I wouldn't be able to defend myself in court because how the fuck could I debunk something this blatantly against my case at face value?

Basically a combination of vaccine hesitancy, being unemployed for two years after getting fired over the vax, and family saying I could build on their land.
I don't like working, I'm weird autist who just wants to do his own thing. This solution effectively addressed many problems I was facing. I grew up on a dirt road so small towns aren't an alien environment to me, it's just weird being the outsider. I got a job and place to live so it's not bad. The house I bought should sell and net me some profit, so that's cool. Finish the cuckshed and become debt free. I want to run my own business and make my own money instead of getting paid for working.

Shit anon, that's really cool. Being able to get out there alone and build a shed sounds dreamy, but I'm sure that's 'cause I'm ignorant of the shittier parts of it. What kind of business can you run from there? I assumed you worked in mining, forestry, research or something like that, but I guess not

why the fuck would anyone think that wireless would be better than fiber optic or even copper cables? the whole thing is a scam. you got fucked by an oligarchical scam company and there's probably nothing you can do about it. they won't let any other company provide service

I am on the 5g cell phone tower internet for my whole house as well.
Mine is pretty good, I can play shooter games and actually go a little crazy, getting killstreaks and shit.
Downloads are pretty damn fast.

But it's still far from perfect and one thing I plan to do with my trust fund is have the cable company lay some fiber optics to my house (rural area, will probably cost at least 10k)

Cable companies can lay wire, but if you're in a rural area they will choose not to (unless you pay them to lay it, then you STILL need to pay a monthly fee to use the infrastructure that literally came out of your wallet)
See the second part of >>81500422

I know the rural internet struggle

fiber optic literally uses light which is supposedly the fastest transmission method whereas electromagnetic waves are significantly slower through air and moreso other mediums like walls which slow down the connection speed lol

in America they scam you they steal your money and they strong arm the government to give them a fake Monopoly and it's all a scam. in a shithole company they're actually just too stupid to build anything that doesn't suck.

You're not wrong, my only point was that the 5g wireless monopoly is separate from cable/fiber optic monopoly.
So if your only option is wireless internet, its because Big Wire decided your juice (subscription) wasnt worth the squeeze (infrastructure)

Sure. Most don't get that though. Such is life.
But from what it sounds like, it may still be an improvement for OP.
That data is also from three years ago, it may have improved.
Sounds like a bad advertisement, yeah, but I actually just want to help.

I game off of my phones hotspot... Sure I get 50-70 ping but even in competitive games there's no problem. For using neighbors wifi buy a good extender.

they engineer the net code so you don't perceive the delay. you're just slower at playing the game, and you don't even know it
