/r9k/ I beseech thee.

I used to browse this board years ago when I was between jobs and now, after a few more years 50+ hours a week with no overtime, I'm done with it. I want to become a full NEET.

The straw that broke the camel's back was that the company I worked for denied giving me time off THAT I ALREADY HAD APPROVED, to go to my little sister's graduation, because 2 weeks prior I had to take off bereavement days due to my grandma's passing. The corporate meat grinder doesn't give a shit about us, so I'm done giving a shit about them.

So I ask, how does one become a NEET? How did you guys become NEETs? Is it still possible given the economic and political shift that's occurring? Teach me your ways!

Leech or last.
Leech off of your family / the government, or live on your savings for as long as possible. Give up all of the luxuries you waste money on. Make them yourself if you can.

Perhaps you could strike a deal with your family to get a cheap rent?

stop doing everything you like

Just sit and rot in a boxroom consuming as little as possible to cling to your pittance

THAT is the life, sure does beat working occasionally lmao

>So I ask, how does one become a NEET?
In my case, through extreme money savings through sacrifices that don't bother me. Things like, not buying a house, not having kids, not marrying. I've noticed most normies live paycheck-to-paycheck because they have a mortgage and children. Those are the main hugely expensive things that ensure you'll have to work until your late 60s. I can just keep living with my parents and inherit the place and their savings when they die. They like having me around and I like having them around, so I'd have to be an idiot to move out just to fit in with society. With the saved money (over 70% of each paycheck), I either put it into bank deposits, state bonds and probably soon ETFs.
>How did you guys become NEETs?
During my previous almost-NEET phase, I basically leeched off of my parents. This only really works into your early-mid 20s. After that, your parents will probably just become annoyed and disappointed with you.
>Is it still possible given the economic and political shift that's occurring?
Absolutely, as I elaborated above. But you need a certain degree of luck. I was born in a big-ish city with good infrastructure that ensures I never need to drive. Also a university and plenty of employment opportunities close by. And parents who are honestly great and never thought of kicking me out. But really, even if I had to move out and rent a place in another city, I'd still be saving 40% or more of each wage. I'd still be on track to quit in my 50s once I factor in my inheritance.

One idea that's worth considering is semi-NEETing. After I quit my job in the fall, I found a part-time position where I only worked when I felt like it. Most days I stayed home and chilled, but some days I got paid $150 bucks to substitute teach (read: babysit).

Depending where you are, for beginning you could just start to slack of. Probably wont do for a burger. but many European states have pretty strict labour laws, so you can play it if you are smart. Like if they did it here, I could just call inspection on them, even sue the fuckers and if they fired me, sue them again, while also getting more benefits if you get fired.
