a 12 year old girl tried to run across the road thinking she had time (she looked left which was the wrong way to look) and I hit her, she flew and hit her head on a light post killing her instantly, all her friends lied about what happened and I barely escaped with no jail time

I have a car but only drive it once every two weeks for our in office sprint planning day.
I used to think I would never decide to drive again and hadn't driven since 2005, but eventually two years ago I decided to buy a car and start driving again since I figured I could just do it rarely as a compromise between driving all the time and hating it vs. not owning a car and feeling like a loser.

Nah, if you were a guy you would be in prison.
Courts are more lenient with women.

When a 12 year old dies most everyone will assume it's your fault regardless of your sex.
The only kind of people who could realistically set aside emotions and make an honest judgement about whether the child was at fault would be autists or psychopaths. Everyone else would just imagine their own kids or little sisters or whoever and would get mad and try to see you get in trouble.

yeah but think about it, I was driving, she looked like she was waiting for me to pass, and then she ran onto the road giving me less than a second to brake, and even IF I had, the car would not have stopped in time
