The original is already a very nice compromise. 50 Shades of Gray had enormous success, so much so that you could be forgiven to think it's the main representative of the genre at a glance. 50 Shades is to women romance what Evangelion is to Mecha, it's a genre staple, for better and definitely for the worse too.
There is nothing wholesome about harems, if the trope is used in it's intended way. Most of the time the harems are only nominally harems and serve as a convenient way of showcasing as many fetishes as the author can reasonably cram in the series. There are no "best girls" in true harems as it's depicted in the original version.

As someone who actually has read both male and female targeted romance AND erotica AND watched anime and manga for both demographics in those genera, the one on the bottom is WAY more accurate.

I suspect the one on the top was made by someone who litterally never picked up a actual romance novel or a single piece of erotica of any sort, and just spinning narratives.
