RIGHT !! Yeah Im sorry I went to bed early last night but yeah I do read literature its like most of what I read.
I really like reading classics from around the world for comparison. Im probably gonna miss a couple but some authors Ive read and remember fairly well are Camus for France, though I feel kinda meh about him. I like Satre.
Then for Russia Ive read a lot of Dostoyevsky, some Tolstoy, one book by Gogol but Im looking into reading more since I liked it, and one book by Nabokov.
For Japan all the authors I recommended in my previous reply, but I also like some more contemporary stuff from there like Murakami or Kawakami. Which is kinda way different to most of what I read but I still like it idk.
For the US Ive read some Twain, some Salinger and Fitzgerald, I also liked Hemingway. Im really big on Steinbeck though. Big fan.
For Germany Ive read some Goethe, Schiller and Hesse and Buechner.
Havent read a ton from rhe Uk yet but I do like Dicksonsons works. Not too big on Jane Austen, but Emily Bronte is good. Mary Shellys Frankenstein was kinda meh to me idk.
And Im currently thinking about reading The Prophet.
So yeah, hope this helps. BIG fan of books !!

All well-read women, sick. I have not been able to enjoy Dostoyevsky, you should check out Foundation Pit by Platonov, it is one of my favourites. Nabokov is nice, Lolita is one of my favourite novels (red flag uh oh).
Goethe is amazing, I used to hate him bc we read him in school but I have come to realise how brilliant Faust I and II is. I want to read his Bildungsroman soon. You should read some Thomas Mann, his Magic Mountain is an amazing commentary on interwar Europe and ideology

Yup, wbu? I find, in hindsight, the analysis we learned was useful but my ADHD ass was too lazy so I hated him back then. But yeah Faust is amazing, now, and I am so excited for Leiden des jungen Werthers. The Gretchenfrage really is as good as they made it out to be.
Hemingway is alright, I have recently read confederacy of dunces which is realllly good and funny! Also by a Fitzgerald, I think.

I only really cared for the parts with the Marmeladov family in crime and punishment, specifically the parts with Sonya. Love her to death. She made that book for me.
Also yeah, Im German too, so I understand the torture that was Goethe in school. But we rarely talked about his longer works, only really short love poems of his, which I hated mostly. As far as I remember. All I really took from analyzing those in school is that Goethe mustve been a massive whore back in the day, as every poem was for some other chick apperantly. His longer bodies of work are peak though !!

We just went through Faust I extensively for Goethe in schools, never any of his short poems, probably for the better though because I am terrible at analysing poems. Always was terrible at poems consistently, even if I liked Der Zauberhut or w/e
