Where do you meet smart people at bros? I'm at a loss.

Mensa was a bust, it's functionally a scam, everything run by insuffarable onions turbo normies through barely active Facebook groups.

Discord, Twitter, and VRChat have all been about as futile as you'd expect, but I tried.

I'm able to make friends, but finding anyone +3-4 std that I can actually talk/relate to is fucking impossible.

Are all the smart ppl in ivy leagues? Working at CERN? Is it possible to meet smart ppl as a semi-neet?

If you're > 130 IQ and wanna do crypto shit or talk or something PLEASE hit me up

Yea, I've gone to ham radio meetups, bike swap meets, concours events, you name it. Hard to make connections stick, but that might just be a skill issue.

I'm thinking like, regular group of people kinda thing, like a chess club idfk

Truly smart people ALWAYS conceal IQ powerlevel for one reason or another. Detecting them and expressing yourself as a fellow "smart person" might as well be a sport. Look out for particularly eccentric introverts. Not quirk chungus shit but actual eccentricities that catch you attention.

I meant rather the conferences where people present their research that are hosted by academia

It really depends on the social circles you have. I know a fair few as they were my classmates. Since leaving school and university though, it is quite hard to come across them. Smart people are just quite rare.

Mensan and I agree with you. I'm gonna try to revitalize my local group if I can.
I met some smart people at my city's athenaeum. Most cities don't have one, but it's like a private club/library where people go to discuss the humanities and socialize.

Get into game hacking. It'll pipeline you into genuine malware dev which leads to enterprise level AV/XDR bypassing, container escapes, etc. All things that require a fairly high IQ to be capable of doing.
Hobbyist quant stuff also has some fairly smart people floating around.
There's plenty of pisscord servers for both, but the goal isn't to stay in large, public ones. Just use them to get into the private ones with the kool kids.

>>81532340
Oh gotcha, yeah haven't tried that yet. I thought you usually need some kind of industry connection/job to get admission, but I'll look harder

>>81532366
Fucking phenomenal idea, gonna have to look into that

>>81532368
Hobbyist quant sounds sick, I'm into finance heavy, no luck in finding a non-scammy course seller discord yet

That's an oxymoron. Nobody is just going to give away real alpha for a few hundred bucks. You've gotta do the work yourself to learn. You can get all of the fundamentals from investopedia for free.

Yeah I'm into VR/Cars, pretty much everything CES or SEMA adjacent requires already being in the industry, hence the more hobby level events I've gone to.

>>81532446
Bad phrasing on my part, I meant that the finance/crypto discord servers ive joined are just a pipeline to get you to buy a course or subscription, and not really a community

Memecoin trading is genuinely fascinating.

Insider groups of millionaire whales running massive botnet social engineering campaigns, 3 monitors full of as much live data as a human brain can process with the aid of adderall and white monster.

The social dynamics alone are insane, you're basically trading mass psychology, ideally, creating it.

Something about blasting trance while simultaneously scanning 5 charts, 2 discord servers, a livestream, bloomberg news, and reading 3 twitter feeds blasted on 300mg of caffeine, 2 zyns, and 15mg of adderall fulfills me in a way little else can.

"Smart" is such a poorly defined term. I am in Mensa and perform excellently on standardized tests, but aside from that I don't know anything about me that I would call "smart." I think I'm kind of an idiot in a lot of ways. And I can't take care of myself, so how smart can i really be?

it's just the ability to take in information quickly and retain it, then solve novel problems with it + meta cognition passive buff. Beyond that, probably some level of heightened sensory perception, idk what else.
