We aren't at the population levels yet to see that, what you are seeing is the malady of the infinite. As we now live in a society that provides little moral guidance to people on how to treat others and with no standards of acceptability; what follows is the inevitable breakdown of social bonds between an individual and their community. This situation renders individuals alienated and without mores, so they struggle trusting or connecting with others, engage in malicious or deviant behaviours, and engage in self-destructive behaviours. Their sense of belonging, and ability to self-regulate is diminished. To cope some of them will engage in self-limiting and harmful isolating behaviours and try and fill the lacking human connection with escapism, while others fragment into identity groups in an attempt to find this missing sense of community. The only cure is people who rebel against the isolation and self interest.
