Why was there a distinct difference between the 60's, 70's 80's, 90's, and 00's, but everything after has no flavor? It's all the same. 2010-2025, there's no "oh yeah that's a style from 2010-2020." It doesn't exist. What the fuck happened?

There are distinct differences, just not in real life. That's because the main conduit of pop culture became the Internet.
Another big reason is that there have been no substantial changes in consumer tech, which has always been another part of a modern decade's pop identity.

There is cultural change, but the rate (of innovation/prnounced cultural shifts) has fallen (since 2000) to the level it was in the 1400-1500s.
So the last 25 years is about how much change happened in the 10 years of the 1970's

I never said "nothing changed" I said the rate of change has slowed.
Look at picrel. The shift from 1970 to 1979 was massive:
>Freak subculture of jean vests hairy beards
>Disco bell bottoms etc
>Punk subculture
Meanwhile look at the bottom, inthe last 25 years it basically went from:
>casual wear
to
>street wear
That's about 5 years of change in the 20th century. The reason change is so slow now is because it's been purposely shifted towards getting 3rd worlders and minorities to parity with western civilization rather then letting western civilization innovate at the levels they usually do. So we are sort of stagnating but 3rd worlders who were living in the 1930s are catching up, so I guess that's something.

To have a distinct culture in a decade, you need something for the majority of people to latch on to. Such as, fashion trends and fads. The internet has fragment everything, we would need to defrag the current culture to have distinct decades again.

It's harder to see because you're livin it. Everything blurs together because your life is blurring together. Already we can see that the 00s had a distinct flavor to it, we just couldn't see it until 20 years later.

I would argue that even "well defined" decades bled into each other. The 70s bled into the 80s. If you hear the word "disco" both decades had that. Hell, the Europeans never let them go, you still hear people going to the "discotheque".

The internet was drawing it's last breaths somewhere around 2020-2021, when AI wasn't around and accessible yet. sure lockdowns made normalfags use the internet since they couldn't "just go touch grass", but they didn't have AI to shitpost for them yet so either they had to try their hand at it themselves and risk commiting the cardinal sin of not fitting in somewhere, or shut the fuck up and keep to themselves, and they did the second one, while trying to slowly ease into internet culture
2022/2023 chatgpt and other AI services start being popular, and normalfags begin to outsource critical thinking to it, people who made shitty low-effort content realized you can make shitty content with even less effort now, and it all started blending together.
You can't get rid of AI so I won't complain about it being evil or whatever, but it's a shame it can't create, it can only regurgitate, it's why it appears as if nothing's changed at all, nothing new is being created.
Anonymous No.81557180 [Report]
