eventually you realize 4chan and some particular boards are a massive cognitohazard that can genuinely make people worse and can probably even directly cause mental illness. maybe that applies to the internet in general but 4chan is definitely dangerous for a certain type of person. You can get wrapped up in it and start thinking this place is real life, just like normgroids think social media is real life. over the past couple years I've become aware of how much of my mental frameworks came from or were partially influenced by this place, especially the couple of years back in high school that I visited this board daily.
These days I don't come on /r9k/ as often but I still spend way too much time on here. I wish I could leave.
it probably would've been better for all of us if that shutdown a few months ago was permanent.
