you have to be a bit fucked in the head to even consider getting into that field in the first place

It's usually the other way around for cam girls.
But actual prostitutes, especially street workers often get additional PTSD on the job.
I hate the catch all term of "sex work" as it intentionally muddies the waters and blends a whole bunch of shit that often isn't even related together.

Like a autist artist drawing furry porn and a crack ho slinging ass on the side of the road ain't even close to the same thing, yet they are both called "sex workers" who are in the "sex industry".
No dude, they have radically different lives and deal with radically different problems. There is basically nothing similar about them.

Depending on what they do. A normal camgirl might have a few days where she feels shitty about her job if she's the type to overthink. A camgirl that does massive insertions and actively extremely demeaning content will likely have some issues later down the line.

Prostitution, especially street prostitution is a high risk job and it's common for prostitutes to end up in situations that are of a traumatic nature at some point in their career. Which is why they pick up extra PTSD.

The psychological profile of the average person to sell their body in one way or another quite commonly has a background of experiencing abuse that was unresolved. This often includes PTSD, anxiety, depression, among other mental aliments and substance abuse.

Or the tl;dr
Only broken people tend to sell their bodies, and selling their body often breaks them more over time.
