Based retard but I work security and I get paid $17 an hour just sitting on post all day shitposting on 4chan and watching 2000s movies. Its kino. I would probably get up every hour or two to walk around, get the circulation flowing, make it seem like I actually give a fuck, but then after a couple of minutes of walking I would sit back down and go back on my phone.

Use that time to read a book. Buy a Steam Deck or adjacent device and play some games on it. Bring a drawing tablet with you and animate a cartoon on your Steam Deck. There is plenty to do with that time.,

OP you have a point that the work week shouldn't be as long as it is but it should also be compensating you more while requiring your presence less.
The issue is boomers decided to take increasing productivity and give it all to corpos instead of employees.

It is a burden to go somewhere else to do nothing. It feels very restrictive to have your livelihood tied into leaving home just to do something completely pointless. Of course, the alternative is going to the workplace and getting slaved, hence the pushback to your perfectly reasonable feel.
