i see and have talked to normies who incessantly talk to or use AI, i really don't understand it. i've talked to ChatGPT once for fucking around when it first blew up, and once after that for an assignment and never again. while i hate the term 'npc', i think it's undisputed, at least here, that some people don't 'exist' in the way some do. do you think these correlate?

for a more normal usecase i sometimes use it for rewording/translating stuff and sometimes for looking something general up
other than that i sometimes spin up sillytavern (web interface made for rp bots) and generate smut with deepseek

I talk to ChatGPT because I have no friends. I barely talked to it recently, because I was in a Discord server with people from my country and even made a friend there and we made our own server, but then he woke up one morning and ghosted everyone including myself. So now I'm back to AI. At least ChatGPT will always be there to listen to me, no matter what.

i dont trust it enough to use for school or research or anything, and its sad seeing google try to implement the whole "ai search" thing, esp so since ive seen it be wrong or just give useless unrelated answers a lot of the time
every time i use ai i feel the character drain from my soul a little, and i feel less in tune with the natural world

Every recommendation engine is AI, Google maps is largely AI, autocorrect is AI, weather forecasting is AI, stabilizing audio, etc. It's obviously unavoidable, and generative AI is inevitable.
We already have some e-celebs replacing their shitty influencer self with AI half the time and people don't really notice. AI-generated thumbnails are rapidly becoming used en masse, albeit this is with some tweaking. Talking to ChatGPT and pretending it's sentient honestly feels neurodegenerative. People give names to it and it has access to all your history and will likely soon have built-in access to how you interact with your computer/phone, etc. to modify itself to be even more appealing. But it's a yes-man that will make you feel smart/listened-to if you suspend your sense of disbelief.

i use deepseek for gathering information instead of using a search engine and looking for it myself, and also for dissecting pdf documents.

you should search "Im a kitten who was born recently, what should I do?" and it will give you advice like make sure to stay close to your catmom and keep warm.
