The riddle doesn't demand that they're good at math. I was an evil wizard crafting this dilemma as a puzzle door for accessing my secret tower, I would make it so neither of them have common sense, so the truthful one is truthful but is really stupid and cannot reliably give factual answers on scientific problems.

The point is to figure out which door you need to go through in a single question, which may be the true door or the lying door. That's why you need to ask what the other door would say is the correct door to go through, because it's a single question to get the answer. If you asked 2+2 you would know which is the liar but not which door to go through, and you'd be out of questions. This particular drawing is not a correct statement of the riddle though since if it's the door itself saying both of those statements at least one must be false, and there is no correct formulation of those two statements that allows it.

This is a weird take on the classic two-door riddle.
It's suppose to involve two cerbuim guarding two doors, one truth-teller and one liar, with one door leading to salivation and the other to damnation. You only get to ask one question. The guards are not assigned to a specif door, the always lying guard could be in front of the salvation door.

The version of the riddle I've always heard is that you can only ask one question. The goal is to figure out which is the correct way to go. If you waste your one question on math, you may know which door is truthful and which is lying, but you still don't know the correct path.

Yeah, this is the solution I remember from childhood. You just ask either door what the other one would say, and then you do the opposite. Their answers will be the same, because the liar door will lie about what the truthful one will say, and the truthful door will truthfully tell you the liar door's lie.
