Anyone notice how youtube has become trash? Its been going downhill since 2016 and there hasnt been a glimmer of hope ever since.
Back then there was so much new stuff I couldnt keep up watching. Today I have to look hours to find a single video worth watching.
It has come to the point where yt has become a time sink without being fun. I do it out of habit only, and it has been like that for years.

Its sad bc it has been a part of my life for about 15 years now. Thats half of my life. I remember discovering new stuff, and that you can find soundtracks of shows on it.
The only problem is my tinnitus bc of which I need background sound, and listening to music 24/7 is straining. I guess there is no other option that to suffer now.

There is a lot of good channels on youtube. You just seem to be extremely picky.

i only have a few niche channels that post once a month left on my rss feed i deleted the yt acc long ago.
Internet in general is shit all around i unironically naturally quit using it out of boredom.

video essays on topics had me going for a bit but i found out i can just get the actual book and read it from the tap instead of listening to a basedtuber tell me his gay reading of it.

yeah i have recently quit youtube as well, especially when i noticed how they would recommend porn trash every time i opened the website without any cookies, i really believe that we should not be consuming entertainment delivered by algorithms

It was always trash, you just grew up and started to realize it. At some point it clicks that youtube/twitch/etc potential was becoming the new television, little else

no it was good, at least better than what was before, tv. you could decide for yourself what you want to watch, which was new, and without adds.
and the stuff people uploaded was also better. starting with 2016 the censorship became too much for people to continue, thats when it went done. We had something really special.
But maybe it was meant to end anyway. Every entertainment media seems to have a life cycle and yts seems to have ended, just like tv ended decades ago and only boomers still watch it.

There are, the primary issue with youtube however is that back when it was mostly used as passion projects the ratio of good quality to shit quality videos was way higher.
Now that we have thousands of faggots shitting out drama or reaction videos where they use someone else's work and just stare at it to make more money than the actual creator, combined with billions of Pajeets flooding the internent with dogshit AI videos to also make a few cents.

Even if back in the day the amount of good active channels was just 1%, it'd mean that you would eventually find a good channel if you just searched for a bit.
Nowadays the amount of good channels themselves may have increased, but it's also flooded with way more shit so it's a miracle whenever you stumble upon a decent channel. And it's only going to get worse as AI improves further and more Pajeets flood the internet.
Anyone doing anything interesting doesn't really have a real platform anymore, instead they're just drowned out and often belittled and mocked by people pumping out slop specifically to just get a few bucks at best.

I rarely try out new creators. I guess it's just like with everything, with music for example: you've got your taste you like and mostly stick with it. But when I find a new channel it often has years of content piled up. And youtube recommends small channels quite a bit now, sometimes I get recommended videos under 10 views.

I never watch drama or react or fake-ass videos, or pajeet videos, why would I ever do that?

Criticizing youtube for having too much bad content and therefore being dead is like giving up on music because too much bad music is being uploaded to the internet. Youtube is not a product after all, it's a platform and a quasi-monopolist for self-made video content.
