it depends how much time you are spending gaming. I work part time and am in college but I still find time to play a few games but no chance it's like a story game or something with a commitment. I just pick up mk1 or play some tetris on my laptop for a bit

Nah, never was an outstanding fan of pokemon games as a kid.
The aesthetics of the franchise as well as the nature of the cast just makes it way more interesting for me since I already liked learning about human myths.
I like having a Wikipedia page next to it and seeing the mythological origins of the demons so I can possibly find extra books to read off of it.
I find it just does a lot of things better than pokemon, notably in making you constantly change your demons to adapt to the challenges the game imposes since they tend to get obsolete fast. The dungeon crawling was already something I had an inclination for.
The story is also a lot more interesting, I really like strange journey's approach right now.
