I still find it very surprising that people are religious in 2025. Do you people seriously believe in gay little magic?

it does actually

but its really complicated it depends on which god you persue

they all have different "affirming proofs"

as someone who has experienced the pinicacle a handful of religions

I can tell you there is good logical reason why someone would believe

but a non believer you will never reach those hights

the very mention that they exist will cause you deny them forever leaving them out of your reach

but that's perfectly fine

to each their own

Why do you think children of narcissistic, manipulative, gaslighting, evil parents tend to make excuses for them and say "they're not that bad" or even outright say "my parents were good I was just a selfish child"

when you're a child your parents are god and the survival techniques and coping mechanisms you learn from that essentially trap you in systems and cycles of narcissistic abuse your entire life and very few people break free of it. You see ghe fucking comments in videos on these basic psych 101 subjects saying "I'm 69 years old and I finally divorced my narcissistic husband who cheated on me and beat me daily," abuse cycles are powerful.

Anyone who's not weaponizing religion for power and control over others is likely a victim of someone else doing it to them.

No one actually believes in religion, but being an atheist is still midwit garbage. Basically all high IQ people practice some religion, since they accept that the only way to not kill yourself is to throw yourself into some massive cope, even if you know it is a cope, even if everyone knows it is a cope. The only people too stupid to recognize this are atheists and children.

It doesn't. Specially when so many existing religions are all about discrediting each other and claiming to be the one and only truth. If one is correct, than the others are lies, so which one is the right one?

You would speak clearly if you weren't full of shit and had anything worth saying. But that's not how religions go.
At best you will pretend that your interlocutor isn't enlightened enough to see what you see, and the only way to see it is to enter the cult

So what? That's their standard of good and evil. You're just arguing from a the POV of the secular continuation of their tradition. But, realistically, you have no claim to that. You believe in the validity of their origin, to begin with. So you might as well stop it with pearl-clutching.

>So what?
Their standard for "good" is evil in itself. A prime example of religion twisting evil for goodness. Up is down. War is peace. Most of humanity burning forever is actually a good thing. More soldiers for israel. Suddenly the objectiveness of their standards become its greatest flaw

Whats the point of this thread again? Why even discuss religion if you have such fixed viewpoints yourself if only for the sake of argument and argument alone? You make claims that religious nuts are mentally ill then act mentally ill yourself, so I guess you aren't much different. Grow up.

Are you slow? You can't condemn them, because you don't even have laws for "good and evil". There is no objective ethics. Back in the day, people were inherently immoral. Like animals.

In actuality, religion was that a prophet, for example Moses, came to the people to tell them they can't do a thing anymore, because it's "evil". That they introduced "good and evil" is what is so revolutionary about "religion". Of course now that religion has been demystified - at least in the West - we're back at square one where anything goes. Your POV is now obsolete.

Only because atheism has been normalized since then.

If you measure your IQ with a three digit number, have access to a toilet, and are under 60 there's like a 90% chance that you don't believe in spooky ooky spirits in the sky.

And there's also a 90% chance that you're not going to reproduce. Atheism isn't sustainable. In a Darwinian sense it's not efficacious. It's a mind virus that kills its host.
