Ask yourself what would be preferable, being alive with no memories, and no thought, or non-existance.
What would change for you between those two states? Breathing? cell resperation?
We know the mind is a product of the body, it can be defective.
There is no scientific existence for any afterlife, or the existance of souls.
When you die your body will rot away, your brain and all it's memories will rot too.
That is what death is.
