Do you have any advice on how to lock in for studying or finishing projects? I have tried add blockers, hiding my phone, doing stuff last minute but I get an insane sense of dread and desire to just smoke a cigarette and just fills my brain with the feeling that I'm a huge faliure

what worked for me but I didn't think mattered was environment. Find a place you can work in. For me, that wasn't my home, I had to spend an entire semester mostly at the library. Have a reason to do it, the more personal and concrete, the better.

On feeling like a failure - maybe so, but thinking about it doesn't help the situation, don't waste time and go back to studying

If it's hard for you to sit down and do something, that's your subconscious trying to convince you it's pointless. Constructive behavior should come naturally. There's nothing to work for nowadays, so it isn't surprising that everyone just engorges on slop food and escapism. In a unhealthy, declining civilization, self-destruction becomes the norm. I suffer from the same apathy, it's just a matter of going through the motions and getting it over with as soon as possible. Some guys I know turn to alcohol to get work done, supposedly with satisfactory results. You can also consider getting on amphetamines.

Just spend your self-sabotage procrastination on introspection and reading related psychology instead.
U gonna be avoidant in any case as long as you put pressure on yourself in completing the tasks. You're also full of yourself if you think you possibly coming to conclusion you are a failure would change anything for the worse.

I'd suggest studying in blocks, like 20 minutes and then a break. You can work up to like a half-hour and then break, etc.

This sort of sets up a reward system in your brain. Even if it's like study for one hour and THEN I can smoke a cig, or whatever you like.

Why not work towards your passion with the money from your job?

>have a reason to do it
This is really all that matters. If you simply don't care about what you're trying to accomplish, no manner of psyopping yourself or "techniques" will ever make a difference.
